$2.3 Million Yacht Tour : Eclipse 505 Shadow

Nick, as always a great tour. I usually like something about boats you showcase, but I struggle to find anything I like about the Eclipse. The side door to the cockpit seemed like a weird, fiddly bit of kit that was awkward to use. There was only one helm seat, so passengers have to sit with a limited view forward, in loose seating as the boat bounces along at 40 knots. The midships stateroom seemed cramped for a 50-footer, and big vessel sinks in both heads eliminated almost all counter space. Burying the electric panel in the midship stateroom seemed like a bad idea, and the side decks looked narrow and difficult to maneuver. However, the boat must be fun to drive with 1800 HP for grunt.

There is a lot packed in to that boat! Quite impressive, especially triple 600 Verado’s! That alone could add over $300k to the price. Great tour and I am so glad you get on some of these yachts I would never know existed! Have a great weekend!

That is definitely a beautiful looking boat, the quality of the fittings is evident throughout and I like the cabins. The only downside to me is the price, it seems rather a lot for the size of boat. Great tour Nick thank you.

The stick in the forward cabin is *obviously* a Crew Clobberer. Something not shiny? Grab the stick! Loved the woodwork. High gloss is always my style so loved the cockpit table. Must be fin to drive at that speed.

Very stylish, lovely mixture of textures and finishes on the inside. Very high quality but you pay for it. I wonder what the hatch in the drop balcony is for? Given that this boat is meant for locations where fuel is cheaper and warmer than the uk, I’m surprised that there is no sunbathing pads.

Kind of an odd question Sir, but these mega yacht shows…if you had to guess, how many people are there to just check out the boats with no intention on purchasing? These are no regular boat shows, like down at the local community college 😂. I live the yacht life vicariously through this channel, so I have no clue how these shows work, or what’s to be expected when you attend. Anyway, great video as usual Mr. Nick. 👏🏻

Glad you enjoyed it! There are a surprising amount of genuine buyers at these shows, manufacturers wouldn't pay the huge costs of exhibiting otherwise. But for sure, the majority are there for a look around and a nice day out.

You have to listen to the ambient sounds during one of Nick's videos - it tells you a huge amount about the boat. How do the floors sound, the doors when they close, how echoy is it? Can you hear the water slapping the boat in the front? You can hear a million dollar (or pound or Euro) difference in a boat that is hard to see.

It's a nice looking boat, with a lot to like, and, for me, not to like. The access to the bow most certainly is not something to undertake while underway. Makes me wonder at the real usefulness of that forward seat. A quiet getaway while anchored, I suppose. I truly do not like that complicated side gate. It's pretty cool, no doubt, and pretty complicated. I'm a bit underwhelmed by the forward cabin, I'd expect something more at this price. It's a nice cabin, certainly, but maybe not so much for 2.5 million. I do like the aft cabin. I think I'm just spoiled because we've seen what 50' can be. I'd really, really, like to get underway and put her through her paces. Thanks for a really nice boat, Nick, even if not to my tastes.

I don't like how the finish on the electrics panel is a different finish to the rest of the bulkhead in the guest cabin, or the fact it doesn't have a mirror wave installed on this one. The mirror wave is a vital safety feature.

I see engineering issues! What a hassle with the side boarding gate, what is up with the hinged "wings" on either side of cockpit, where do you put your feet when converting the salon seat to a navigators position?
