Aquahuna Unboxing - Amazing Fish, One Big Complaint

First let me say that all the fish arrive alive and healthy - in fact I got some extra tiny little fry with some of the shrimp (unidentifiable), but it's terribly irksome that they don't label the bags - when you're getting a bunch of really small fish, that's a pain to be sure. Still, I'd give them a 5 out of 5 for very healthy, colorful fish.

I recently had my first experience ordering fish online and I ordered from aqua huna. 14 neons and 10 embers. I was definitely nervous about it. The neons arrived in good condition but the embers had ich and 6 died over 3 days. I had an empty planted 37 gallon tank that had been set up for over 6 months ready for the fish and I treated them with Seachem Paraguard for a few days until I noticed the Paraguard melting my vals. The remaining fish appear healthy and aqua huna quickly refunded me for the 6 deceased embers. Hopefully the vals will recover. I was researching other people's experiences with aqua huna and came across your video and channel. Great stuff. Great voice. I talk to my fish also!

Thanks for the comment. That sucks that they got ich - hard to blame it on anything other than the shipper if you put them in a tank with no other fish - from what I understand parasites are pretty much always around and just go after weakened fish - so maybe embers are a bit too delicate for shipping ?? Hard to say. That said, I've had good luck with them - I wouldn't give up on it from just one incident.

My experience with AquaHuna was not good. Half of fish arrived dead.

It can happen for sure - I'm always amazed that any fish at all live through a trip across country in the mail - blows my mind. That said, so far my experience with Aquahuna (and by the way with the Wet Spot) has been really positive.

Not so far - over the years I've gotten about 4 separate shipments and so far they are 100% on survival and disease free. Definitely my go to for online shipping of fish.

I got some fry with my shrimp from them also, what did it turn out to be?

Turned out to be an Endler's livebearer (guppy). There are a couple of them living happily in one one of the planted tanks - pretty nondescript / not much color and such / but kind of fun non-the-less.

Pretty much everything I currently have is from Aquahuna - so far they have been 100% in terms of arriving alive, quality of the fish, etc. Highly recommended.

you add bag water to your tanks and you do not drip acclimate your fish or shrimp/

Yeah, I was on a timeline on this one - in my defense I will say that these were new tanks that didn't have a lot of fish in them so if there was ich or some such thing, I could have treated it pretty easily. I also wanted any bacteria that might have been in the water. All the tanks were cycled, but can't hurt to add a little cycled water. As far as water parameters, they were pretty close but you're right, I could have drip acclimated them to be safe. Good news is that everybody survived and are thriving in their various tanks.

@@ATXAquatics 1. Bacteria doesn't live in water 2. Using the tank water in the bag is a terrible idea because it's filled with ammonia especially by the time it's shipped to you 3. Drip acclimating is dangerous because once you open the bag...blah blah (its like 3am so i dont feel like explaining in detail lol) you are poisoning your fish. Please look these three things up. It is amazing the amount of just patently false info that gets parroted around in this hobby and I just wanna help u out. Thanks for the review, I just ordered from them an anxious to see if my fish survive
