for living on yes these wide beams are much more do able but they restrict where you can sail to , but if like me all you want is a floating home , this is a good option , always remebering its on water and with out a good heating system you will be cold , hence i would add an aga , its a lot easier to have an aga than to have to take your boat to be filled with red diesle , sorry autism i do not spell well , i have thought long and hard though and i want to live on board , river and canal charges are way cheaper than rates and a slice of river front moring i already have , i will have solar and am going to make a water collection and have a berkey water filter , my intention is to make life as free of big business as can be and be off grid not pay power companies to polute on my behalf , that will feel good , building an outside french stone oven and a garage , proper road to my land oh and gates to stop people just driving in ... humans

That’s ok as long as you factor in yearly costs of around £11:000 . Mooring. Fuel, licence, insurance, and severe depreciation.....

Wide beams tend to stay mored up to shorelines more than average and are big enough to house a whole bank of leisure batteries and often have a generator is a quiet box….thus less need for line disrupting solar

Is a boat like this narrow enough for the canals ? If not where exactly could you go ? Although I do like the idea of a live aboard moored up but not in London but North Yorkshire somewhere.

Wide beam can travel much of the northern part or the southern part of the canal systems but not any waterways that connect them. Not sure is there is a natural body of water large enough yet safe enough for a widebeam canal boat to transition between them since every wide beam owner I’ve talked with said if they wanted to do the transition it requires taking them out of the water and using a vehicle (train, truck, ocean vessel) to transport them

only one change i would make , i do not like islands , or dinner tables in small spaces , they take up too much room for how little you use them , so again i would have a lagun arm , not a table and i would add a chest freezer , i have an issue with always having emergency food , so i would need one , these are just how i would have mine , oh i am preparing to , that is why i am looking , a wide beam , i am designing it in my head right now , what i want and what i need , looking more and more like i need to buy a hull and have it built out to suit me , for a start i want an aga , it will heat the water , the boat and cook , as for summer , well i have land and an outdoor kitchen will be built with a french bread oven and bbq ,fridge , just the usual things you need to party like its 1999 , hahahaha , no but i have a big family

I love that tented end to the boat - so much beauty here. but this is the first one I have seen using the end space so well ! The wide width makes such a huge difference - seems almost like an actual 'house' inside, and spotless ! Lovely !
