“Turn the breakers back, turn the breakers back on!” Spectacular video guys! Laughed all the way through and my 13 yo daughter watched even though she’s not interested in fixing a temp sensor. Well done!! Wish you had more of these.

44k views and only 150 likes? WT heck? This was hysterical and I commend the effort. Sadly, I will not try this repair myself despite it being straightforward. Worth paying for the experienced tech IMO.

My temp sensor wiring went through conduit with silicone then to the Jandy box. Nice install, but there is no way to use it again. Rather than going through a rewiring of it all, can I just splice the wiring from the old install onto the new install? I was thinking of using a sprinkler wire grease cap to protect the wires from corrosion. But it just seems so much easier. No one mentions this, so wondering if this would be a problem.
@PoolGuySupply4 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't have a problem splicing the wire with your existing wire as you mentioned. The sensor failure typically happens in the probe itself, so using your existing wire should not present any problems, unless your existing wire is very very long.
@robertpaz99574 жыл бұрын
@@PoolGuySupply Thanks for the reply. Since I will be using the existing wire, the length will be the same, just a few more inches added at most. I will report back to inform how it went.
@robertpaz99574 жыл бұрын
Success! It literally took me 3 minutes. Removed the old sensor, placed the new sensor, tightened it down. Spliced the existing wire with the new wire at the sensor site using small grey wire nuts. I will add a sprinkler wire grease cap once I get one at Home Depot so it doesn't corrode. Temperature is now accurate at 76 degrees. This method allowed me to avoid opening up the control box and rewiring.

Is there any way to test these air sensors before cold arrives? I believe the answer is no, they just fail. In the old copper styles we could simply expose them to a baggie of ice and it would activate, no so with the new type currently being used by all 3 major brands. Can't even test electrical conductivity.

And if the sensor leaks after installing? Is there a separate o-ring? Should I have used waterproof silicone caulk?
@katierobbins27296 жыл бұрын
Solved! A) make sure pipe/hole area is clean and remove any old rubber/caulk and B) Like the Poolguy said, don't overtighten!

My pump is not coming on in freeze mode, and my solar sensor has shorted. Could the solar sensor be the problem or would it say water sensor shorted?
@PoolGuySupply6 жыл бұрын
Freeze protection turns the pump on when the air sensor reads the air temperature near freezing. So if your freeze protection is not engaging the filter pump, then the air sensor may not be reading the correct temperature, or the setting configuration may have freeze protection turned off.

I was ready to have a melt down not understanding much of anything about my friggin non working pool I have spent a fortune on over the past year in repairs. No pool guys seem to really know what the heck they are doing either and American Home Shield, well, they don't deal with automation problems. Now it says "water sensor shorted" on top of everything else. I can't even get a handle on these damn valves. The Kreepy Krauly never has suction for more than a minute. Anyway, I found this video and if it weren't for the song making me laugh, I would probably be crying right now. So thanks you guys!
@othercousin9 жыл бұрын
+Carisa Marion - 13 years as a pool tech and one thing I've learned is that American Home shield does not pay normal rates for parts or labor to pool companies so therefore only get a revolving door of inexperience. I could tell you nightmares all day long of my experiences with all home warranty companies. It may come in handy for other household needs but is wasted money on pool equipment.
