I’ve just bought one of them 180 and I’m trying to set it up. Got to the point where I was filling it up and the sump is leaking because they have not sealed the glass properly and I am fuming because my other tank is leaking as well, and I bought a this one, hoping to get my old tank transferred over to it, but now I have to wait to try and fix it or get it replaced

Hey mate i have the aquaone 160 im wondering about the sump how can i go about puting a refugium in the sump
@ParkersReef Жыл бұрын
Probably not a lot of room, refugiums are good - but only if large enough. Lots of other options to keep nitrate and phosphate down in smaller tanks
@benking642 Жыл бұрын
@ParkersReef what other options are there this is my 1st tank so I'm fairly new
@ParkersReef Жыл бұрын
On a smaller tank, water changes are great. But with a decent amount of bio media in the sump, you shouldn't face any nitrate issues and a little GFO will sort your phosphate out for you

Why do you recommend the AquaOne over the Red Sea aquariums? We're thinking of getting the Red Sea Reefer 350. We are new to this but we want the larger fish and we also like the idea of a bigger tank in our home. What's your advice? Btw, I'm an Aussie from Melbourne living in the UK.
@ParkersReef4 жыл бұрын
Main reason (only reason here really) is price. The Aqua one is considerably cheaper. The Red Sea is a lovely tank though, so you wouldn’t be disappointed with that!

My only question about this tank is where does the water flow if the filter sock gets clogged?
@ParkersReef4 жыл бұрын
It will overflow to the next chamber. Although they could have put the sock chamber a little lower than they did to be extra safe
@RITCWargames4 жыл бұрын
Mum bought one and we plumbed it together, im not a fan of the crooked pipe in the sump, the one on the right hand side for the 255, you need a second person to screw it from the top otherwise screwing it in from the bottom doesnt work with the small inlet. I like the modular sump, but its weird how they are the same size in both the 255 and the one above. I do think aqua one has stepped up from the minireef shitboxes. I would buy this over a similair sized waterbox just due to the fact there is a refugium available in this.

@sunnygoold94494 жыл бұрын
Fingerprints Besides that it seems awesome. Did you say the dimensions (I can see them on the screen)? Those dimensions are pretty good. If I was picky I would say a gravity fed ATO should be included and so should a screen top. The Aquamedic ones have a plastic gravity fed container - doesn't look nice (from what I have seen online) but it's the sump and it's a great idea at the budget end. It's not that I really mind the space taken by the ATO... it's that I just think that gravity fed is 1 less mechanical point of failure. The Cade is about 2x (for same length) with a little extra water volume. But for that you don't need to buy an ATO or an extra cabinet to and powerbars etc. I think it's worth it especially if you have a wife who ONLY wants to see the tank and the cabinet. This is a really good entry tank for reefing and a great review - just not sure I'd wanna build it once you compared it to Ikea LOL ;)
@ParkersReef4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don’t think this competes with a CADE to be fair, they are a level above in both quality and price :)

@ParkersReef4 жыл бұрын
I’d be curious as to why it needs it. Should have one pipe fully submerged, one taking half water half air and the emergency well clear of the water line?

I bought my AquaOne Reefsys back in March 2020 . Overall the tank itself is very well built and the only issue is the very cheap cover for the weir . The stand goes together very well , the doors are to low and dragged on the carpets I had to build a plinth to sit the stand on to overcome this. if it s positioned on a hard flooring there wouldn't be a problem. the only other thing i did on the stand was silicone all the way around the inside and cover all the fixing to stop and water ingres to the board edges and rust on the fixings, as we all know with anything that involves salt this is an issue over time. The sump I feel is very poorly designed indeed (personal preference) The ATO reservoir is a complete was of time and when the system is shut down and then started up again the tank water slightly overflows into it, every month I check this bit and empty and clean it , because of this I could never use this chamber of the sump. All other parts of the sump are ok and can accommodate all the parts to complete a reef setup.

The silicone on these sump dividers lets go within a couple of days. You will need to sand the plastic divider then silicone them back in. Pretty terrible quality. in about 2 months, all the silicones on the baffle brackets holding the baffles will come off, so now I don't even use the baffles. The rest of the tank still okay. You get what you pay for but I use it as a freshwater cichlid tank which is less demanding.

@@ParkersReef My pump turns over about 8 times 2200l/hr. When the first baffle bracket silicone came off I moved the baffle to the next slot, then few days later it came off again. I have no problems yet with anything else and have not yet reported this to aqua one as the rest of the unit still works. (reef sys 326)
