Nice update. Apistogramma Borellii would fit well into your aquarium. They don't need heaters or Asian Runnynose. I like the look of your Val. Trim the brown leaves of the Java fern and persevere with it.

Thank you! I’m keeping the fish stocking as it is at the moment, as ideally I’d like to get some fire bellied newts in there (as and when I can find some adults), but it’s good to beat in mind if I can’t! 😊 Thanks for the tip on the java. I’m quite liking bolbitis at the mo and is doing a little better in this tank. - I shall keep persisting though!
