These aquascapes from The Art of The Planted Aquarium Contest were created as part of a live competition between aquascapers and planted tank hobbyists. All of the plants were supplied by Tropica Aquarium Plants.

5:40 is still my favourite, love the windelov! I also like 9:07 for some reason, maybe because it feels like you could actually see something like this in nature, unlike some other artificial-looking Iwagumi's that lack any natural imperfections. And the judges' scapes look awesome, of course 😊 - I personally prefer your's and Adam's

Beautiful aquascapes. I am a novice to this hobby so I would like to know if you have to gravel vac your plants and gravel or do you leave it alone because the fish waste is good for the plants?

Thank you, some waste is good but it's always best to syphon the gravel to avoid buildup of ammonia and other not so healthy chemicals.

Wonderful collection of nano tank scaping, and the x large tanks were beautiful. As for the the Judges tanks ,well , you guys are so talented. Loved your tank , so clear and natural. Thank you George. P.S. the quality of the plants are amazing.

The gravity defying rockscape isn't artificial looking at all. There are examples of these types of structures in the natural world, especially in the western part of the United States of America.

Not really a fan of backlighting but all the scapes are superb. The last 4 scapes for me will be 1. Knott 2. Farmer 3.Paszczela 4.Chow. And my favorite of all: the dragon stone behemoth.

Good day PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE could someone tell me who in South Africa is still stocking Tropica 1-2 Grow as I have exhausted all resources this side, the people who used to say the Rand Dollar tooooooo bad and no longer can import I desperately need these for my scape entering the IAPLC2019 many thanks JOHN

I like the layouts, some very impressive work there... However, I dont like "fresh" aquascapes. Grown in scapes are more natural looking and more believable. There are no plants like Rotala and Ludwigia because they require time to change into their underwater form and I really miss that.

I agree with you. However the contest did used to allow the use of mature plants but in the interest of keeping this a level playing field the entrants all had fresh plants. So I think for this contest it is better to use fresh plants only but for viewers it is nicer to see grown in plants. Even so they did a great job with these plants - I think.
