Hi George. First, you’re amazing and inspiring and you have a gift! Thank you for sharing these videos! Couple questions: what do you put in to control algea but also that helps plants grow? You mentioned it. What the the floating plants? Finally, what is the white ceramic filtration thing called and where do you get it? Love this tank. Just wish the light was not as harsh. Keep up the great work and thank you !!

Hello and thanks for your video. I am torn between this tank and the 5g bow front they carry on their site. (they are sold out of the 8) Have you looked into those? I would love your opinion on the differences if you have seen those. The glass is the same quality but the lighting is slightly different and so is the filter set up. @@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto Well, I'm looking for beginner friendly plants. I bought drift wood I plan on using for plants but I'd also like to have planted plants. I bought fluval stratum to help with the planting of the plants. I'm trying go for something like this: foreground plants, mid ground plants, and longish background plants...in the middle of the tank will have the diftwood. My tank will be using a c02 system as well.

What kind of algae eater is that little fish I see in the tank?
@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto
@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto 2 ай бұрын
That is an Otocinclus which do very well in a established tank where there is a consistent amount of Algae. They also do better in larger schools of maybe 5-10 in a tank this size. Make sure when you buy them that you have looked at the fish closely to make sure they have nice round bellies. This is important because a thin fish means they are not getting feed well enough and may not be in good shape. Once they get that skinny look they have a lass likely chance of survival.

A lot of times when you go to a fish store they will tell you based on what the internet says. In most cases the internet is correct, however if you look at a fish and see that it is small but you think your going over the limit it is probably fine. Make sure to watch how the fish act though. If they are unhappy I advise taking them out.

@@lilianubia3648 I love this tank for the easy access to pulling out all of the filter and pump housing to clean every few month. It is a three stage filtration as I said in the video and is reasonably quiet. My recommendation as I said is 1/4 water change one week and a full 50% the next time etc. Use a soft toothbrush to clean the glass and to make sure no hard water marks remain behind especially where the top clips press against the glass. Vacuum your tank at least once a month with a small aquarium vacuum or you can use a turkey baster in a tank this small. I don't like the cutout on the top glass as eager feeding fish can jump out without you seeing them so I do place a small cutout over that area at all times. Change the carbon filter in this tank about once a month or every six weeks. Add a small amount of Sponge in the chamber as well and rinse well every time you change filters to keep everything clean. Make sure all hardscape such as wood or rocks are well away from the edges of the glass so you can clean easily. This also includes plants as well. That is about it my friend. Keep up on water changes as I suggested and only leave the lights on about 6 hours a day. Fish live in dark environments in the wild so only show off with your lights if you have large amounts of plants or during the time you are home. A timer works great. Thank you Liliana! ;)
@lilianubia3648
@lilianubia3648 5 жыл бұрын
@@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto Thanks for the detail. I think that tip of keeping plants and rocks or wood away from the glass is important, also to keep a closed tank to avoid fish jumping out. My 19 litre tank is an open tank and it tends to get a film of oil which is not easy to clean.. in future I will have a closed tank for sure!
@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto
@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto 5 жыл бұрын
liliana C you can clean that sheen of oil by laying a piece of paper towel on the surface just for about 20 seconds and repeat a few times! It really works great.

Oh and George, what about going to like a tap plastics and having them cut a piece of clear plexi glass to fit that corner. Then you could break off the pin from a tac and glue it on the piece to use as a lift handle when you feed....? Of course in order to hold up that piece of plexi glass, you might have to move those two front support brackets up to the very front of the tank.

that's what I did and it absolutely worked fantastically that means now I can start putting in other plants that were croaking before like java fern and stem plans things like that I can't wait for payday because maybe now I can have other plans that grow in the water column and not just only in a newbius island or a tree with a newbius in it or anubius is floaters because nothing else lives. thankfully Taiwan has great glass aquariums hardscape is no problem Driftwood spider would any kind of wood no problem the cost is pretty reasonable and if you don't spend your I'm useless products like water deflorinator because I found a better way if you let the water sit for 2 days with a little bit of aquarium salt and those leaves no problem no more dechlorinator. also instead of spending money on declarinator I can actually maybe get a more expensive beta instead of just getting a crown tail or a veil tail they're all beautiful but I've always wanted something a little more fancy just because I tried a couple times hoping that if I got this fish they would survive nope I'm just real excited that finally the fish hobby is actually starting to become a blessing instead of a sad interest that I am was thinking about quitting

I would recommend the Leland Low Iron Glass as well. I don't have a tank I have given a higher rating on.

Sorry, I am working on that. You would never know I was in the music business for 30 years talking live to 80,000 people at a time. I know my wife told me the same thing and I am sorry.

Better than the top fin 5 gallon?

I hope so. The built in pump in my top fin retreat cracked. I had it for less than three months. The problem is that the pump and light are connected to one plug. You can’t use the light if pump isn’t plugged in. I bought this one and am hoping it’s better. My poor beta has had an air stone and daily water changes for a week. I’m setting up the 5 gallon Pisces today.
