You will not hurt yourself listening to an older gentleman he has the wisdom and knowledge, in the good grace to be able to tell the young man how to get it done, I would love to be a student of this man, he is my kind of person.

I spent most of a day, just trying to find an explanation for an autogyro rotorhead. Finally, these videos showed me how all the parts fit together and articulate.

If you make a tray that has cutouts to hold all the parts for your Rotor set in the order of manufacture you will never miss install parts.

Do you share your assembly manual, or a few select pages as an example? A friend did a builder's assist with you, and it is one neat machine. My job is CAD and documentation, so I'm curious what it's like for someone who does one of your builds on their own.

Sir what the use type of bearing in rotor head.....please tell me
@abidfarooqui4899
@abidfarooqui4899 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply Sanjeet. For the main spindle bearing where the rotor rotates, I designed it to use a double row angular contact bearing made by SKF. However, engineering wise and to some people tapered roller bearing is better in this application because the way axial and radial loading happens here. Although I agree with that principally, tapered bearing block can be misassembled causing rotor to literally fly off. This a angular double row bearing of higher dynamic loading is enough and can not be misassembled and many gyroplanes have used it successfully and it lasts 2000 hours generally before replacement. Hope that helps.

What is the weight of the entire rotor head assembly plus blades?
@silverlightaviation
@silverlightaviation 4 жыл бұрын
Rotor system is 85 pounds. Rotor-head weight is not important because we never sell our rotor-head separately. Only on our machines
@Aviator168
@Aviator168 4 жыл бұрын
@@silverlightaviation Wow, I did not know it is that heavy. Is it made of 4150 steel?
@silverlightaviation
@silverlightaviation 4 жыл бұрын
@@Aviator168 They are Aluminum alloy. Steel ones would be 150 pounds. These are not your old Bensen style machines. Rotors are 8.6 meter (28.2 feet) span, 8.5 inch wide chord

@@silverlightaviation I am just asking about the rotor head, not the blades.
@silverlightaviation
@silverlightaviation 3 жыл бұрын
@@Aviator168 That's funny because that is what you asked in your original comment (plus blades). Anyway, as I said rotorhead weight is of no importance as we do not sell it. It can only come with our aircraft kit. What counts then is just aircraft empty weight

Some older designs did and do use tapered bearings and there have been a couple of deaths and a couple of videos showing rotors flying right off because people assembled those tapered bearings upside down into the towers. These bearings are not your regular ball bearings. These are double row angular contact bearings that can handle loads in both axis. The loads carried in this bearing doublet in the rotor head exceeds 6Gs and you cannot assemble it upside down. It does not matter

U have all these strong bolts and stainless parts, why not the little aluminum block be made out of stainless or light titanium that would be much stronger than the aluminum block. It seems the aluminum block might be the weakest link and with that hole drilled through pretty near the edges. Just am wondering is all.
@silverlightaviation
@silverlightaviation Жыл бұрын
And yet not in a single crash the Aluminum block has ever torn off. We are not making tanks. These are aircraft. We do not solve problems that do not exist. The name of the game is liten and simplify through engineering with proper safety margins for the application at hand. Not complicate and tankify.

@user-ev2qo1hj1g Жыл бұрын
@@silverlightaviation I totally get it, I am just wondering is all and I know it is not a tank or warbird. I realize the problems more than likely do not exist 100 percent. I am just thinking of safety margins etc and redundancy. There are lots of types of aluminum. If its aerospace stuff I would be ok with it and I am sure it is. U have a nice machine and I like it.
@silverlightaviation
@silverlightaviation Жыл бұрын
@@user-ev2qo1hj1g In Aerospace the most common Aluminum alloy is 2024 for sheet metal. 6061-T6 for milled parts and also 7075-T6 for higher strength parts like leaf springs. All our milled parts are made from 6061-T6 and safety factory is in excess of 2. Usually certification requires a safety factor of 1.5 from limit load values.
