I don't understand why ppl are after questioning was slumdog his best work or not. That specific year, he gave music for a certain hollywood movie, music reached to the ears of the academy jury, and they judged him to be the best. It was good enough in their opinion to be the best that year. The musicians of this league in my honest opinion are above and beyond these awards.

I think the main reason behind is that people think Rahman got the attention only because he directed music for a hollywood film, in the past he has given better music in bollywood movies and he was not recognized for those. This can be the reason people are saying that Slumdog is not his best work. For me personally it does not matter, he got recognized for his work, which is thoroughly deserved, and I am sure audience of other countries might have checked his other work if they are interested in foreign music and have a good taste.

I think it is really an honor to be performing at such a concert in such a precious event and i believe no other indian has ever reached such great heights and received such honors in their entire life time as this guy has done in his short career and young life . Phenomenal & Unbelievable! The sitar bits are impossible to play. On the original score, it could have been multiple takes and a lot of cut and pastes...but when this is performed live here in this concert, it is proven that its a magical performance by Gulrez Khan.
