Actually guitar is older than veena. Saraswati veena is only 350 years old while guitar was invented in 14 th 15 th century

From the references of Vedic writing, it can date back to around the first millenium B. C. Temple sculptures from second century B.C. show a type of veena being played.

@@abhijithraj3372 ya but it is not the present day veena which we see was invented by Govinda dikshitar in tanjavur during the rain of nayaks and now greatly modified even at the time of muttuswami deekshitar the yali faces upwards u won't see veena in the hands of annamayya and purandaradasa because it was not there u will see other instruments which are not present day typical Saraswati veenas.but even they are called veenas because veena is a general term given to string instrument and ofcourse you can find veena in Vedas but not these typical Saraswati veenas which u see now

Rudra Veena, kinnari veena, Pinaka veena, Sarasvati veena etc. Govinda dikshitar merely modified Sarasvati veena. Guitar itself is said to be inspired from kachhapi veena.
