One of the buggiest games I ever bought, with some terrible design decisions. That said, after a few patches the bugs weren't so bad, and the design stuff was always an issue with this series. With all of that, it was definitely fun. Personally, though, I preferred some of the more focused TD games like Le Mans and Eve of Destruction over TDU and TDU2, specifically due to the better design and gameplay that came with the more specific focus. The Forza Horizon series lost some of its roots from FH1, which was made in answer to this game. If Playground Games would recognize the things that people love about TDU and TUD2, as well as some of the favorite aspects of the NFS series, they might become as well-loved as they some day hope to be. Yes, FH4 is better than ANY modern game of the type (and there are so few like it), but it could be so much better. TDU2 shows us some of what they could do to make that happen.

@Austin King yes but the 2 huge maps made it great able to walk in your house and customise it, had a casino, fun races and pink slip races, can walk in your garage and change your cars around, cars show mileage witch is great with such a huge map can indoor windows has a great gas system, I just loved driving around 1 side of the map to the other at night time

One of the many things I liked about the TDU series is the attention to detail. If you notice every car has its own matching speedometer UI. Unlike today's open world racing games where it's the same generic one for all cars.

IMO Test Drive Unlimited 2 will forever remain the GOAT above Forza, and Assetto and Project Cars (not MNC or NFS though). For it's time this game had amazing sounds and visuals. The cars sounded legit. The only problem I ever had was the handling, but overall this game was amazing. TDU2 remade with modern controls, graphics, radio, and customization would knock out all these other car games out the water.

I like the fact that the game gives you many different types of activities which makes it fun to play. From customizing houses, changing the car interiors to doing plastic surgery to your character. This is by far the most underrated driving game of all time imo, I loved how big the island was and playing online drag racing other players, the 10 mile races all the way around the island, the cars for the time looked great, they still do imo, this game doesn't get the credit it deserved, I hope one day they make a new one. actually thats a known issue. the file is corrupted and needs to be replaced. easiest way -was- to just delete td_tireskid.sob from the shaders-folder and let the launcher download that file from server to get it fixed. not sure if server is still up.

The houses and the small details like the indicators, windows and drop tops just shows how backwards forza is. If you had TDU2 with forza graphics and physics it would be the best racing game ever. The map even had several tracks you could just drive on. So so cool.

The driving was pretty bad, too. The rest was good (if you ignore the bugs), but the handling, physics, and feel of the game were really a let-down. Eden Games had a better handle on how a car should feel with the V-Rally series (fun fact: V-Rally started as a Need for Speed game) and even with Porsche Unleashed.
