What point do you think they were trying to establish by giving that argument? The issue with the Christan guy's thinking was that he didn't really understand what a "thing" is when he says God can do anything. To him, that statement basically means that, any statement describing God has the same truth value as any other statement describing God. ( why he says God can be anything over and iver again) But the fact is that even in Islam , Allah has power over all things. This is easily understood when one realises that "a God becoming a non-God " is not a "thing". Just like a square-circle is not a "thing" that's why it's stupid to ask if God can create a square-circle. The point is to establish the law of identity and since God established a law of identity, one cant just reply to a logical inconsistency (God becoming non God) or "paradox" as you put it with "well God can do anything" .
