This sword dance originates from the eastern part of Sudan. The inclusion of women in the sword dance attest to the value of their role in Sudanese tribal society. @ Union Square in San Francisco (October 6, 2012).

Yes it is Sudanese culture. The Beja people are from Eastern Sudan and this is their culture. Just because it is similar to Eritrea doesn't mean it's not Sudanese. Sudan, Eritrea, and Ethiopia all have some similarities and doesn't mean one is deceiving the other.

I don't know what everyone's problem on here is ? Sudan is part of the MENA region. thus classifies as Arab . For the ignorant MENA stands for Middle East and North Africa. Largely based on language and culture similarities. They also share the same religion and them self classify as Arab. I don't think anyone on here should justify on someone elses behalf if the person or people in question consider themselves as something.

So much hate coming at this from ignorance. Sudan is a diverse country, historically it was the biggest largely Arab country by far. Of COURSE there is cultural crossover when you reach the extremities of its borders. Also vis-a-vis "tribal society" it makes total sense. Sudan has a living tribal history which has survived into modernity, there are tribal confederations, large tribes, smaller ones, and smaller family groups still. I mean, they don't all live in huts or hunter-gatherer groups and most of them have smartphones, but tribal doesn't mean retarded.

If a ton load of yemeni's came into somali and somali chose to speak arabic these folk will be calling them arabs too. Arab isn't a culture. It's a racial group from the levant (whose first ancestor was likelly a horn african) who have migrated to northern cities of north africa during the ottoman empire time. Arabs aren't native to africa, arab culture is a sub-branch from african, and all "arab" african countries are africans who speak arabic, not african-arabs. people please.

Tribe= originally Eritrean. Song=Eritrean. Dance and rhythm= Eritrean. Singer=Eritrean. Language of the song (Tigre) =Eritrean. yet some people on the comment section argue it has nothing to do with Eritrea and more to do with northern sudanese. if it weren't for the colonisation the whole eastern sudan would be still eritrea or as anciently known Ta-seti (medjay + punt). what the hell do north sudanese nubians and the arab jalaba got to do with east sudan tigre & beja is beyond me.
@riya622610 жыл бұрын
If you actually paid attention to what the young man was saying in the video he said this is a dance/music of eastern Sudan now i know that there are tribes in Eritrea that are the same tribes in eastern Sudan in the end of the day it all depends on what the person considers him/herself as, and they consider themselves Sudanese, and these performers also did a Northern Sudanese/Nubian cultural dance. I don't know how much of that is accurate eastern Sudan being part of Eritrea, being that Eritrea was part of Ethiopia.

if it's arabic then why are they wearing Indian sari?
@m-gh49486 жыл бұрын
because india was a great influence on culture of many places because they used to have a great trade markets and their goods reaches far far away from india , so it is our culture in sudan but influenced by dresses came from india by trade :) and this is actually a beautiful thing . indian culture influenced alot of arabic peninsula culture too , it is simply because india culture was very great :)

Chad has a bunch of ethnicities (just like Nigeria and Niger Republic). The Chadians that live in Western Chad have a lot in common with Nigeria and Niger Republic. The Chadians living in the East have a lot in common with Sudan.
