Love your relationship with your father. Makes me miss my dad. Wanted to mention that here in Hawaii, we're known for what is called a plate lunch. Contains 2 scoops of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad, and an entree of some sort of protein. One popular plate lunch is the Loco Moco- a bed of 2 scoops of rice, a hamburger steak or 2 on top of that, a sunny-side or over-easy egg and topped with gravy. I call it the breakfast of champions.
