When she turned 12 she got a new microphone as a gift. She sat down on the sofa just to test it out and sang "I'd rather go blind"..... It's going to absolutely blow your mind. A Grammy worthy performance just goofing around on her sofa

It may be natural but she is so intelligent because she was unschooled (type of homeschooling) which means she has been allowed to make decisions for years longer than most kids who are so protected and anesthetized from the process of real learning in school. People don’t trust kids because they are not used to kids really making decisions and experiencing the results of those decisions. Unschooling means that you learn from your mistakes in a protected environment not that you are kept from making decisions. Well that is the best I can do to explain unschooling in a short space. And it is not trademarked. So not selling anything, mostly because many people have no idea or bandwidth for delving into it.

Boudy, a Mr. Quincy Jones saw this or one of her later performances. As he arranged this song for Mr Frank Sinatra, he invited Angelina to his 85th Birthda party in London´s O2 Arena as a surprise opener. There, the then 12 year old, Angelina shocked the whole invited music industry. Since then she is feared by many, adored by real musicians, but highly respected by all. Be safe, have peace. @AMR: I suspect she's quite intelligent. She's sort of a "technical empath" in that I believe she can listen to a song and literally absorb the essence of it, then turn around and recreate it in her own voice and style. I've been watching her for nearly a decade and this is what I suspect. And thanks for your continuing reactions -- very enjoyable.

If you wanna listen to Angelina before she was on, Norway got talent by listening to her singing “I who have nothing“ when she was only six years old. This was supposedly her very first song she sang in a recording studio. This will really blow your mind.

heard she sings 6 hours a day, for years ... lives to sing, sings to live jazz is actually a native language for her, been listening and singing all the time since she was in the crib, literally ... not studied like adults do

People are always amazed by AJ's 'natural talent' and tend to overlook the fact that she had already put in the hours you are talking about. As she said, she started when she was one and a half. That's six and a half years to the point of this video, and she always took it seriously. She attended a school for the arts, which had her in a professional studio by the time she was six. So, yes, she was born with a gift. But her work ethic is unmatched as well.

As well as spending hours on KZbin studying jazz greats such as Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Louie Armstrong among others since she was about 3. Theirs is video of her at a record store searching for albums and listening on head phones.

I assume the gift is just luck and her sharp brain, the right kid, with the right people around her found the right passion stupidly early. The rest is her. The formative years are huge, no one starts singing that young not even close, no one is that interested in real music at all that young. That's wheels on the bus time. She was obviously a sharp kid that loved real music, had a strong enough mind to really hear it. This gift is really just a toddler knowing what she loves, loving something mature, and having great folks around her to encourage and help her. She wasn't really a decent singer til she was six. She clearly wasn't born with it. She was just super passionate and tirelessly improved. No one is a decent singer at 6. She already had three years experience at that point, good hard experience, and was poised to break out as a singer and artist when the rest of us ate dirt and sang an occasional jingle awfully. It's just easier to say gift. I think most people know formative years are near everything for everyone. Why did she gain twenty years experience is like five years? Formative years, that's where those five years were, that's where the experience never is for nearly any of us in any passion. Music helped mold her. I guarantee you she was the most annoying three year old in the world, the most annoying four year old in the world, the most annoying 5 year old in the world. But good, great, and good on her family for sure. She's now the best 6 year old singer in world history, the best 7 year old singer in world history, 8,9,10,11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17. Objectively, skillset, never mind her surreal trip she sends us on with her artistry and feel for things. That's a mouth full, needs a full novel from the Astar's, so I guess we can just call it a gift. Her voice might be. It sure is beautiful but that's also maybe mostly because she started so young and went so hard.

@@Smaugyyy Then I think we agree completely. None of us can run society alone, we specialize, we develop different parts of ourselves, are suited to different things. Born to sing I am ok with, not entirely but she clearly found a very suitable passion. She may have been suited to many things but probably not this well. I don't think of it like a calling, a pull. Just a sharp kid exposed to it, loving it, and using willpower to understand it as best she can improving that everyday. I bet she could have ended up doing well and loving many things today though. Learning to sing and talk at the same time is amazing I'll give you that. I wonder how much she sang in that year and a half before knowing as toddler that was her passion. I bet a lot, and I bet that was a massive year and a half of development of her brain in those ways. I only take small exception to people thinking of gifts. It's either lazy or an ideal. She is living proof. People shouldn't miss that. We can be great with love, help and a suitable passion. That's the best part of her story. Obviously we can't ask or expect everyone to have her story. Again, no one is starting at 3, their families aren't necessarily noticing or encouraging. Their colleagues and professionals aren't necessarily there to help. But we can learn from it plenty for sure and be inspired to notice, encourage and help kids.

Music is her first language. She learnt it as we learn our mother tongue - effortlessly and perfectly. She just listened to Billie Holiday all day and there it was! Fantastic reaction, and I agree about Rosie O'Donnell. She was basically rude.

That comment that you feel like her uncle? Yeah, we all feel that way. Many of us have watched her grow up with unbelievable talent, innocence, and the desire to help others through her singing. We all want to be protective of Angelina because she is so open, vulnerable, and humble-while she blows us away with staggering talent. Your ten song playlist is fine. Actually, you could throw darts at Angelina’s song list and you’d still be in disbelief. Al Jolson’s line is appropriate here: You ain’t heard nothin yet. What Angelina does that no other singer I’ve ever heard can do is sing beautifully and authentically in five or six genres. It seems impossible that any singer could give me my favorite versions of songs across so many genres and styles, but she’s been doing that for years. Angelina is once in a lifetime.

First, that´s a nice picture with AJ sitting in the F1 car! She looks so cute even in there. It´s her favorite song, or at least it´s the song she sang most as a child. But she didn´t feel as a child anymore at the age of 12. Can´t wait for Friday when her new Single is released. 🥁🥁

I like your formula 1 car analogy: I was just writing earlier today that I think we often take Angelina for granted and don't appreciate just how extraordinary she was - and is ! That said I am not so critical of Rosie - I thought she did a nice job, Angelina was clearly very confortable and happy with her and it was a lovely little interview.

Your story reminds me of my dear cousin who passed away a couple of years ago. Whenever he was at a family event where a band was involved we knew he would get an invitation from someone in the family to go up to the stage and sing 'Because Of You'. I know what you meant but, come on, be honest, even though you would hear the song many, many times, you would get emotional every time. Yes? Her version of 'Fly Me To The Moon ' at 8 years old is a classic without a doubt. It's one of her most popular recordings along with her version of 'Crazy' made famous by Patsy Cline. Finally someone that agrees with me about the interview portion of this video. Angelina is never nervous on a stage singing. Dealing with (IMO) clueless and almost condesending hosts, that's hard. I usually skip the interview when i watch this because i get so irritated at Rosie for not doing better research to ask better questions to an eoght year old.

Exactly! Rosie does Angelina no favors with the wording of the questions and acts as if all 8 year olds from other countries should speak perfect English and be familiar with awkward phrasing. I didn’t know you could coin initials😂

6:44 AMR, I Love your reactions AND your perspectives of Angelina’s unique gifts! I know you’re working on a list of her songs to react to. As you venture past her other-world jazz talent may I suggest adding one of my favorites, her rendition of Rihanna’s song “Stay.” I believe she was around 12 at the time. After a slight adjustment with her guitar player they recorded the 2nd take. Her emotive vocal rendition will astound you!

Hi AMR 👋 and 🎊🎉 Happy Birthday day 🎉🎊. What a wonderful reaction to 8 Angelina. Completely agree about the host and her poor introduction. Remember Angie never sings a song the same way twice, so they'll all be 1st time reactions. You should add to your reaction this same song 🎵 but the following year when she was 9 when filmed. Its "Fly me to the moon Acoustic ". Tne version you just watched and this are the ones that Quincy Jones saw and started to check her skills out and just like David Foster, fell in love with her. Quincy Jones asked Angelina to open for his 85th birthday concert in London in the O2 arena in 2018 when she was 12. She did the Quincy's arrangement but still added her flare to it. Also he had her in the sound area with her family to talk a bit and asked her to sing a song for him right there and she did, a capella. This is all on video if you ever want to react to it. Thank you for this nice reaction. What me amazes is how Angelina is completely 'into the song' when she sings: her facial expression changes and she is living the song (I don't no how to say it otherwise). And when she has finished the song she all over sudden is that smiling little kid again.

As Angelina's Jewish uncle, I just wanted say ..her new Arab Uncle , is spot on, and knows his shit! More importantly, I want the entire world to know...both A Jewish Man, and Arab Man, can agree... Rosie O'Donnell SUCKS (on so all levels except for the most important one)! "Your F1 Analogy" was one of the best I have ever heard regarding AJ. BTW the play list you have, is really not the best out there. It's missing 150+ top notch songs and only know of 3 of them were just "slightly not amazing (she was sick on all 3)". When you want to add additional rabbit hole's to your program, then I recommend 3 sisters (Ages 24, 21 and 18) from Mexico call "The Warning" rock band . They went viral 10 years ago (with a cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman (at ages (14, 11 and 8) (over 30 million views) . The sister's fan base compares to Angelina's. In fact, many are members of both. Now they are on a world tour opening for Muse. I disagree because by doing it like that we got to see the contrast of her being a child and a humble one and the mature way she could sing at an early age. She is doing the Quincy Jones arrangement. He was the very first one to change the tempo which Frank Sinatra sang. Quincy was so impressed with her performance that he requested she open the show for his 85th birthday celebration in London. Angelina was 12!
