Great reaction man! This song is early After Forever, from their 2nd album "Decipher". Song written when Mark Jansen (the "brains" of AF) was still in the band. After Mark and AF "parted ways", he founded Epica in 2002. Know that Tuomas c.s. already knew Floor from way back. After Forever even toured with Nightwish and I definitely liked AF better than NW. We saw them in 2002 in Tilburg (with another Finnish band, the name of which eludes me at the moment). Main thing I remember apart from all the fun, is just how tiny the Finns looked, compared to the Dutch giants, haha. Also pleasantly surprised when AF guitarist took to the stage during NW's set and grabbed the mic. Great voice! Mainly due to Sander Gommans' health issues in 2007 (and the ending of his relationship w Floor), the band had to take a break in early 2008 and in 2009 they disbanded. That breaking up of AF was a severe blow for Floor to take. In interviews years after the event (e.g. in the Dutch tv reportage done in 2015 at the legendary Nightwish Tampere concert) she named it as a contributing factor to her own burn-out in 2011. I think the name of the other Finnish band was Charon. I saw them all three live in cologne in 2002 on the same tour.

Just came home after my first ever Nightwish concert, in Ziggo Amsterdam. Blown away, emotional, very happy that this band exists, that they overcome their trouble to give us this wonderful music. Because the world could use some beauty. And Floor is giving everything she has. I hope she takes care of herself.

My personal favorite live performance from After Forever, that is a better recording, is Dreamflight from Progpower in 2007. After Forever had some ballads too. Like the song: Eccentric (live at Pinkpop 2004). But if you really want to experience a Floorgasm in an After Forever song, I think the song: Dreamflight (live at ProgPower USA 2007) is the best choice. You can really hear how her voice improved over the years in After Forever, you can hear the changes from album to album. From year to year. I really live listening to After Forever even to this day.

Great fun reaction! I will definitely add this song to my routine playlists!! She had so much insane talent- even at such an early age. It is so wonderful that she kept working at it and finally gained the fame she deserved. As for After Forever- Mark Jansen- one of the guitarists- founded Epica!

After Forever, 1997 to 2009. Mark Jansen (no relation) after he left in 2002 formed Epica and MaYan. Joost van den Breok is still playing keys and still working with Floor. He's now a music producer. Sander Gommans (the growler) was Floor's boyfriend at the time and he ended up in a few other projects. They seemed to all stay busy, but Joost and Mark are the ones whose careers have blossomed, along with Floor's of course. BTW, surprised no comment about the Middle Eastern vibe of the song. Actual After Forever produced some really meaningful music. "Invisible Circles" is largely about child abuse and child neglect. If I have this right, Sander was a teacher at the time and he would tell the stories of his day to Floor, who then put those stories to music. In terms of their seriousness, After Forever was ahead of Nightwish at this stage of the game. Most Nightwish songs back then (not all though) were messing about in the fantasy genre. There is real quality to their music, but they never seemed to get the recognition they deserved.

Bas Maas became a guitarist of Doro.. don't really know what happened with Luuk van Gerven and Andre Borgman. The last I have heard for Andre is going to do some project with Sander..

Floor used to be in a relationship with the guy doing the grunts (Sander Gommans) I think it was when they broke up it was also the end of After Forever, after which she started Revamp.

Wasn't there a rumor that guitarist slept around on Floor with her vocal coach. And Floor was broken hearted?. Any way Revamp gave us a more angry Floor and in some ways was pretty cool but I wouldn't want to mess with her.

The songs Floor wrote from the Revamp period are not all about hearts and flowers and flying ponies with daisies in their manes. You have to experience heartache and anger in order to write effectively about them. See also some of her rock songs. Writing can be therapy.

I have never heard this one. There are better ones, in an inside venue. She was a teenager when she joined. She was in it about 9 years. The handsome growler was her boyfriend. She wrote a lot of their songs. After the break up she started her own band ReVamp. She wrote all the music there, she said she did everything, it was during that time she experienced burnout, & was taking time off when Nightwish came calling. After Forever had opened shows for NW in the early 2000’s, so they knew her, & how she became friends also with Tarja.

islgrl292 No Floor was in After Forever 12 years (not 9!!). She joined them in 1997 at age 16 and they broke up in 2009. So in fact she was longer in After Forever than she has been in Nightwish right now. She was devestated when After Forever broke up.

@@hansolo2121 , thanks, I knew she joined at 16, have heard her talk about it but wasn’t as sure about when they broke up. About a year ago she was interviewed by a guy from Washington that was her first show in Seattle, it was over an hour long, & think it was him that asked her how the relationships ended, or if they maintained??? It was fun to watch our diplomatic Floor thread that needle, while still being honest. 😉

This was back when Floor was a part time lead vocalist. It didn't take long before she took on the full time role. Not a great composition, but does allow Floor to give a taste of her vocals.

This is Floor when 23 years old and the composition is typical early AF, with “middle eastern” influences ( like Sahara by Nightwish), for me a nice composition specially when compared to s**t like Hotel California 🐰

If this was 2004 then Floor had been with the band for 7 years, joining in 1997 at age 16. Mark Jansen had already left.
