Arab Man Reacts to NIGHTWISH - Storytime [LIVE at Wacken]

Habibati! It's definitely Nightwish time! I genuinely get excited when Joey tells me I'll be reacting to a Nightwish song, and this time around it was a straight up rock song in 'Storytime'. I've learnt that there 2 Nightwishs, the Nightwish that writes the most epic songs you can think of, and the ones that write the catchiest songs you can think of. 'Storytime' was definitely the latter, and this guy has absolutely no problem with that! I have yet to be disappointed, and I'm starting to wonder if I ever will be!

I saw Tuomas 4 weeks ago near Stockmann's department store. He was carrying a couple of bags. I had to say something to him, so I said I've been watching a lot of Nightwish live videos previous months and thanked him for his music. He was stoic, quite slow to react, but said "Glad you like it!" after I finally shut my mouth. I said I'll tell fans I we met . He okayed. I said I'm not going to take a picture. I didn't want to bother him more. Afterwards I thought I should have walked with him and ask a thousand questions, but at that moment not one came to my mind. Meeting him felt definitely different from meeting and talking to some other musicians I look up to, I guess partly because you know he doesn't care for attention and praise. I think meeting Floor would make me quite speecless or maybe I would say too much and/or something stupid. And I'm not even a fanboy type of person. I would like to think I could relate to them like to any other person, but obviously not.

If I met Floor I would probably ask her if I could hug her, because she is such a nice person, always with big smile, giving happiness to people all over the world with her voice. Of course, it would be awkward as I am almost 40, but I guess she would kind of understand. :)

Imaginarium is the name of their last album with Annette. Floor took over for Annette midway through the Imaginarium tour and crushed it. She’d only been with the band about 10 months at this show.

Freddy M. of Queen and Geoff Tate of Queensryche have been dethroned as the best lead singer by Floor Jansen. To me she is the Norse Goddess of Music and Song and the previous NW singers are her Priestesses in her temple. Your enthusiasm is contagious, keep up the good work!

They are so down to earth.. Floor has her own KZbin channel called "Storytime".. I think they are on Storytime #4 now.. You get to see her at her ranch, with her horses.. She talks about different solo projects she is working on, and chats with various music associates she knows... It's really very cool.

This concert is the tale end of an 18 month Imaginaerum album world tour.. But, this tour started out with their second lead singer Anette.. About 8 months into the tour in 2012 she could not continue and had to drop out... So, Toumas "the keyboard player" called Floor... Floor's band was inactive at the time, so she flew out to meet up with them on the road.. She filled in as the Nightwish lead singer for the rest of the tour.. By the time she caught up with them she had 48 hours to learn the set list prior to their next tour date. So, at this show she had been singing with Nightwish for about 10 months.. And all these songs had been written by Toumas for a different lead singers vocals... But, it didn't matter, Floor killed it on all of these songs...

Imaginarium is the name on the album from which this song comes from. It's Anette Olzon who sings on that album and she is doing it great. But Floor just takes it to a whole different level. So this is the Imaginarium Tour (sort of) where Anette Was singing but got sick/quit/got fired (depends on who you're asking). And Tuomas asked Floor to fill in for the rest of the tour. I don't remeber if Floor and Troy had just become full time members here or if it came some time after. But Floor had only been with the band for a few months here. There is a documentary about this tour and how Floor joined here on KZbin called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" It's freaking awesome. Check it out.

I'm with you! I worked in the music business and after 40 years was bored by the same old same old.....Until I heard Nightwish. I'm excited about music again. It's funny, I don't know you or anyone else in the Nightwish Army but I feel like we all share a secret, a knowing that people outside who have never heard of them or their music wouldn't understand. I've listened to a lot of their music and their three diverse lead singers and have to say that like you, I too am in love with Floor. She's just the bomb. She's amazing. Others have explained the album this is from, but I haven't yet seen a comment about the movie as well. Yes, there is a full length feature film of the same name as the album (Imaginaerum) from 2012. Tuomas wrote the story, and the whole band is in it ( with Annette as lead vocals). Likewise, many of the songs from the album were re-arranged completely orchestral and comprise most of the soundtrack. FYI - I just saw the film for the first time about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I had no idea it's available on Amazon Prime! It's quite good, very Tuomas-hit-you-in-the-feels. What else would you expect??? Low budget, but quite enjoyable; it's definitely worth the watch.

And go about your business. Floor has become more active on YT, putting herself out there. You could try posting to her about what you do. And this is in your favor; YOU are a fellow singer! I discovered a restaurant owned by a Lebanese family called "Carnival" in Van Nuys, California. They had a chef from Lebanon who was amazing. I ate there often, and love all of the flavors created with all of the spices used in the Tabikh! Also my best friend dated a woman of Lebanese descent for many years and she would teach us a little about all kinds of Lebanese food. Tragically she died of cancer and was taken too soon. Tuomas might seem abit "socially distant" in his overall presence,but as a fellow Finnish guy so humoristicly put it "Oh,its called being Finnish". They might be looked upon as "cold people",the rough winters etc can have an impact on it (same goes for a handful of the Nordic countries) But once you get to know them,once you take that first approach,show them your true self. They will open up and show you a totally different "me" about themselfs. So Tuomas might not be as smiling and goofy as Jukka,Emppu,Marco,Troy and Floor. I think Kai might be slightly more on Tuomases level. But when you approach them,they are just as welcoming,heartwarming and genuine as the rest of them. Toumas sadly has gone through alot of stuff and phases in his life too. He has matured,he is embarrased about seeing the younger version of himself.....he tends to say "that is a young,bitter and angry man". Tuomas is way past thoose days today. But defintly,he can come off as really uncomfortable in the spotlight (at times) But as you discover more and more about this band,you will notice how he smiles more and more and more,after Floor joined permanently and shortly thereafter Troy accepted to join permanently too. Troy did not like Tarja at all,he has spoken up publicly about this matter. But for several years he has been working on the albums with them (kind of like Kai really) Been in some of theyr videos,stuff like that. Im more and more convinced that he wanted to join permanently after they got theyr YES from the goddess herself,Floor. And the chemistry within this band is so far from what i have been used to over the years. I never really paied attention towards it back then,but Floor really showed me a difference i wont go back on,ever. Because she not only came in and did the stage shows,performances and vocals better,her crowd interaction and her personality is just second to none. Toumas pretty quickly went on to say that Floor will be the final vocalist in Nightwish. He is tired of being blamed for vocalists "coming and going",but it is also a huge compliment for Floor! If Floor chooses for some reason to leave Nightwish,this band will be no more. He finally landed the vocalist that upgraded and completed Nightwish (he has known about her since she was a late teenager/early 20s vocalist in After Forever) So to go for a vocalist after Floor just seems pointless for Tuomas,as he found perfection. Nightwish now can play songs on all of the band members full register,and it shows for me personally in interviews with Tuomas alongside Floor. He has that relaxed,finally at peace and also a sence of pride over his face,whenever he looks at her. Allmost like he is thinking "i cant believe she is actually in our band finally". She brought such a amazing atmosphere,overall mood and joy with her into Nightwish. Nightwish used to be childhood friends jamming out together,now they are family. Thats why they have become my favourite band! You dont see any other band with that strong chemistry amongst every single individual like Nightwish possesses,and theyr individual talents? Dont get me started!

"Imaginaerum" was the 7th Nightwish studio album ( the second with Annette on vocals, 2007) and also the name of the Nightwish movie! Check it out!!!! You scared me with that R&B comment!!!!

Nightwish are all very nice, down to earth and approachable. Any "I'm a big cool rock star" phase they might have had they got out of their system by the mid-'00s. Tuomas is very humble and thoughtful and introverted, Marco is very chill and nice (and a huggy drunk 😂), Jukka - though unfortunately not an active member anymore - is one of those incredibly charming and approachable people who can instantly make you feel important and at ease, Emppu is just like you'd expect: a goofball. Floor and Kai I haven't personally met but I expect they too are very lovely people in person. 😊

That breakdown with Jukka, if you listen for the leitmotifs, the orchestrations and keys are very similar to the theme song of Crimson tide

Joey.........It's Aubergine with baba ganoush with kanafah for dessert, or a steak ! A Man....There is a Doc about how floor started with the band. " Please Learn The Set List In 48 Hours ".....Was the message Tuomas sent to Floor asking her to fill in for Anette who became ill on tour......You gonna love it, shows them all being themselves.
