I know you mean well by your comment, but Coptics are not Arab. You see, the Arab's persecuted Egypt when islam started (around 500 BCE). There were some cases where people would get their tongues cut off if they refused to leave the Coptic language and learn Arabic. The Copts today are the descendants of the true egyptians, not Arabs.
@mooftwosnum1fan480 Жыл бұрын
As for the comment above, I’ve seen Coptic people take ancestry tests like 23andme and it come up 98% Coptic and less than 1% Arab, although there’s a lot of cultural similarities because of centuries of living with Arab Muslims, Coptic people are still definitely a distinct group

@@00xess, Coptic means Egyptian. When Muslims conquered Egypt in their conquest, they were Arabs and not Egyptian. And, when they came to conquer Egypt everyone in Egypt was mostly Coptic Christian. Islam came from Saudi Arabia and not Egypt. So Muslims are Arab and Coptic Christians are Egyptian. I put this in the clearest way I could and I hope you understood me.
@peterabdelmalek87883 жыл бұрын
@@00xess, as I have already said. There are no Egyptian Muslims. You can't be Coptic and Muslim. The Muslims came from Saudi Arabia. It literally has "Arab" in "Arabia". Coptic Christians are called "Coptics" because in Greek "Coptic" means Egyptian. Just like how there are no Arab Christians. Why, because they weren't born in Saudi Arabia.

I hope some American fundamentalists hear this beautiful hymn, and take note of what they call God in the Arabic verse.
@Zealot1268 жыл бұрын
lebanese3000 Some American fundamentalists think "Allah" is the name of a pagan moon god. Some go a step further and say its synonymous with Satan. They seem to be completely unaware that "Allah" is just the Arabic word for God and Arabic speaking Christians use it as well.
@williamjameslehy13418 жыл бұрын
lebanese3000 What Zealot126 said. It's a popular notion among conservative American Christians that Christians and Jews believe in the same deity, but that the Muslim deity is somehow different, 'on account of they's callin' him "Allah", when that ain't God's name'. I was pointing out that Arabic-speaking Christians DO call God 'Allah', as they do so in this beautiful Egyptian hymn.
