After a life-changing 10-day adventure through Armenia, I had a 48-hour layover in Kuwait, my 76th country! Come along with me as I explore Kuwait, beginning with a delicious Arabic and Indian breakfast!
Local Tour Kuwait: localtourkuwait...
During my 48 hours in Kuwait, I teamed up with my boy Yousef from Local Tour Kuwait. We immediately went to get some breakfast at Saket Ajeeb Restaurant in Kuwait City.
Saket Ajeeb Restaurant is an Arabic and Indian restaurant. After we took our seats, they covered the table in plastic to keep it clean. They brought us a plate of fresh herbs as an appetizer. Then, we moved on to some cheese samosas and vegetable samosas. They were a lot smaller than the ones in India, but were super crunchy.
Then, our meal arrived! It included chapati, a couple of meat and vegetable dishes, and a tea with milk called chai halib. Everything looked so good!
I started with the chapati and the first beef and veg dish. It contained liver and I could also see chilies, tomatoes, and onions in it. It gave me a burst of heat as well as lots of flavors of other spices.
Then, I went for the second meat dish, which looked phenomenal. It was so good and was like a delicious, spicy gravy. The beef was tender and flavorful!
Then, I went for the chai halib, which is different from Indian chai because it doesn’t contain cardamom or ginger. It’s just tea and milk. But just like in India, it was super hot!
Our meal only cost us 3.5 Kuwaiti dinar, which is roughly $13-$14 USD.
From there, we headed back out into the heat and drove to Kuwait Towers! Kuwait Towers are made up of 3 slender towers that opened in 1979. One of them a water tower, and another is an observation deck and restaurant. The observation deck is the Viewing Sphere. It costs 3 Kuwaiti dinar to enter, so roughly $13 USD.
The Viewing Sphere is the only observation deck in Kuwait. It’s 120 meters off the ground! From the first level of the sphere, I could see the Arabian Gulf, lots of public beaches, and all of Kuwait City. The second level of the Viewing Sphere actually revolves slowly!
From there, we went to Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum, which was once a private house where 19 members of the Al-Messilah group (a group who had vowed to protect Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion of 1990) had used as their headquarters. Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi forces attacked the building for 10 hours on February 24, 1991. The entire place is riddled with huge bullet holes, and outside is the tank Saddam Hussein’s forces used to attack the headquarters.
Then, we headed to a shopping mall so I could get a headdress called a Gutra so I could look more Kuwaiti! It would also protect my head from the heat. I went with a white one and the shop owner wrapped it around my head! It cost me 3 Kuwaiti dinar, or about $13 USD.
Then, we headed to the Kuwait Oil Company Ahmad Al-Jaber Oil & Gas Exhibition.! Inside the entrance is a massive monitor that shows a video of how the oil rigs in Kuwait work.
The museum is free to enter and you get a free tour guide as well! There, you can tour the eight galleries to learn about how oil forms, the history of oil in the world, what Kuwait was like before and after the discovery of oil, and more. You can even watch a documentary about how the rest of the world helped after Hussein’s forces lit 600 oil wells on fire. And, you can see a display that shows how much oil the Kuwait Oil Company produces in one second!
This was such an incredible part of my day. I loved visiting this museum!
I hope you enjoyed coming with me to have Arabic Indian food in Kuwait City, Kuwait and exploring these attractions with me! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave a comment below. David hi, In the museum, the girl said the first oil was extracted in Azerbaijan, the man who started all was Mantashev, rich Armenian who lived there and was considered oil magnate. He was the one who started all that. I am not sure google/Wikipedia will have enough info on Mantashev or it will say about him being the first oil magnate, but for sure I know all started from him: the refinement of oil. Check : Alexander Mantashev, u will see. Thank u

@davidsbeenhere is referring to the Punjabi Samosa which is known world over as an Indian snack. In India we also have the lesser known Patti Samosa - which has been pictured in this video with a variety of veg & non veg fillings, and when filled with a.filling maade of veggies or non veg prepared chinese style then chinese samosa. It is crispier than Punjabi samosa and is usually paired with mint or coriander chutney

Anyways I’m glad you enjoyed. Ps never shake hands with Kuwaiti women it’s considered taboo and not allowed in our culture. Men only shake hands with men and women shake hands with women opposite sex greet each other without touching. It’s a religious thing
