The city itself was founded and anything valuable and memorable here was built during the Kingdom of Hungary.

You couldn't help to not start with Hungary and erdely? It was AustroHungary. Second, one of the best king Hungary had, was Romanian, Matthias Rex

@@TM-cf9ek Until mid-16th century, it was Kingdom of Hungary. And at the time of King Hunyadi Mátyás, the word Romanian was non-existent, as well as the king himself was 75% Hungarian at least by inheritance (the remaining 25% uncertain), and 100% Hungarian by self-identification. Austro-Hungary was established in 1876. You don't even know the basics. BTW: tell us about the nationality of the first Romanian king.... and when he was crowned.... almost 1000 years later than St. Stephen, the first Hungarian king.

@@peterbalogh8138 The real historical facts: As part of the Habsburg Monarchy's eastern offensive, Arad was liberated from Turkish rule in 1687. In the new system of the Karlowitz Peace (1699) and the Passarowitz Peace (1718), Arad became a border and garrison town as well as the center of the Mieresch military border. In addition to Serbian border guards, German craftsmen and farmers were settled in the city and its surroundings (particularly in Neu-Arad [Roman. Aradul Nou, Hungarian Újarad]), which was only incorporated in 1948, in the following decades as part of the Habsburg "impopulation policy". Built in 1763, the fortress was one of the monarchy's largest military prisons. The Austrian settlement and reform policy in Banat also affected Arad and the surrounding area. In 1834 Arad was made a royal free city and in 1910 it became a municipality. As a military base, the place became a focal point during the revolution of 1848/49: the Austrian garrison was overwhelmed by Hungarian troops and the castle was used as headquarters. After the Debrezin Declaration of Independence, Arad was named the seat of government of the Republic of Hungary on July 30, 1849. The Hungarian troops laid down their arms near Hellburg (Roman. Şiria, Hung. Világos) not far from Arad. The fortress was subsequently used primarily as a military prison by the Austrian troops; On October 6, 1849, thirteen generals of the Hungarian Revolutionary Army (the "Martyrs of Arad") were executed here. During the neo-absolutist decade, Arad belonged to the crown land of Hungary and the later district of Neu-Arad belonged to the Temes Banat.

Aradul a fost un oraș frumos și cochet dar actualmente este murdar delăsat neingrijit. Locuiesc in Arad și mă doare sufletul cînd văd atîta indolență atît în centrul orașului cît și în cartiere. Se pare că în loc să sfințească omul locul cum spune proverbul din păcate lipsa de civilizație își arată fața urita. Păcat regres in loc de progres.

Ați fi putut filma și în partea stg sunt convins că sunt clădiri cu arhitectura frumoasa, ați filmat f mult trotuarul din fața..oricum mulțumim !!!

Thank you for posting, it was nice to see the city again after so many years. Just curious if anyone knows, how many steps of walking (fitbit) that would be from the start to the train station. I used to walk both sides everyday while I was on vacation there. I loved it. I would be great to see a video with the same walk you did now and also on the way back walking on the other side of the street. I hope you would consider that. Thanks again.

I'm glad you liked the video! I don't know how many steps there are. Next time I will go in Arad I will try filming from the other side of the street also.
