Please do a direct comparison between the arai and the shoei. Great review, keep up the good work

Good idea - once we get the Shoei in, we'll try and do something like that
@scottyoung56252 жыл бұрын
Just bought one in green…. It’s superb. I’ve had Shark, AGV, Caberg, and most recently top of the range HJC which I really love but has a narrow fit that becomes uncomfortable after 60 minutes. I’ve returned to Arai for the third time of asking and immediately felt at home. Honestly, the difference is significant in terms of quality and comfort. I thought the visor release system was fiddly but I got used to it within five minutes. The only negative is the price… it’s an expensive piece of kit. However, given that it’s so good I’d say you get what you pay for. Love it - outstanding.

Love the yellow one. Definitely top of my list. I think it will go well with my 2019 CB1000R which is also modern but with a retro twist. Great review.

The Rapide and the Glamster are what I've been waiting for. Retro style but full on modern features is something that has been sorely lacking. What everyone will want to know now is: how do they compare to a Shoei NXR (or similar Arai), noise wise? As much as I love the NXR and its photocromatic visor, I might just trade it for one of these.
@UrbanRiderlondon4 жыл бұрын
A few of us here have NXRs and we're excited by these new lids from Shoei and Arai. The Arai definitely holds up, and we're sure the Shoei will too, it's just yet to arrive for us to test extensively!
@triumphlover74554 жыл бұрын
fneves They're all noisy. Do yourself a favour and take that consideration out of your buying decision. I've owned multiple high end lids over the years, including many Arai's and the quietest one was a Davida open face, the least protective of all my helmets. Either get a multi pack 33 db foam earplugs or invest in a custom moulded set and be done with it. You'll thank me when you realize you don't have tinnitus after 25 years of riding.
@fs_seven4 жыл бұрын
@@triumphlover7455 That's great advice, thanks. I did in fact get a pack of foam earplugs a few months ago, as I've been wondering about long term noise damage (I wanna ride for as long as I can). Gotta confess that an open face Hedon I tried was also the quietest, due to how the sides have to hug your skull. If only they were safer... It's unfortunate to learn that all brands seem to be the same though, pretty much like will M says above. I guess our general expectations of modern possibilities, aren't met in real life use in that department.
@nickjames95554 жыл бұрын
@@fs_seven Don't worry, loss of hearing does not stop you riding:-) In general, I've found that if you can hear the car, they are gonna hit you anyway. Vision, balance, coordination and paying attention are critical. Oh, and being just a little slower than flat out all the time;-)

If you had the choice for a weekend helmet would you go Arai Rapide or Shoei Glamster, regardless of price???
@UrbanRiderlondon2 жыл бұрын
HI Martin, They are both great options! For more retro style we would advise probably more on the Glamster but if you want a more modern look then a rapide. If you ever wish to take it to a track then a Rapide as they are approved fro track use too. Hope this helps - Iza

Is the Arai size chart accurate or do the Rapide models run smaller than other Arai helmets? I usually wear a large in helmets but according to the size chart on your site I wear a medium. Can you clarify that?

Think more 80s/90s rather than 50s/60s/70s like most of the other options we offer. That counts as retro now

But is it safer than a £200 helmet with 5 star in Sharp test? Or is it only comfort and style you pay extra for?
@UrbanRiderlondon4 жыл бұрын
There is a lot that goes into the end price of this helmet, safety, features, feel, fit, sizing for example so although this is ECE 22-05 this is not the only contributing factor to an overall price. - UR
