And then I remember my mom telling me that her wealthy friends don’t even wear their real wedding rings out in public for fear of losing them or having them stolen; instead they wear a fake version and keep their real ring in a safe at home. So I tell my boyfriend, hey so, maybe you just buy me the most gaudy, fake ring so I can get exactly what I want without worrying about price, and then the money that would’ve spent on that ring, we can use for a home or a bangin honeymoon or something. It’s like these women don’t realize they’re about to enter a (financial) partnership with the man buying the ring… Like you really want him to blow $30-$40,000 on a piece of jewelry for you when you know that neither of you are wealthy enough to afford that and that is an extremely large amount of money to both of you??
