Otro gran partido entre Arantxa y Hingis. Algunos peloteos me han recordado al de la final de la Fed Cup 98. Como golpeaba Arantxa de revés y de derecha en este partido!!! Estuvo cerquita de ganar a Martina.

Hingis had compassion for Arantha. This was Vicario best chance in beating Hingis. Vicario lost because she refused to grow her game beyond just being consistent. In nature if you maneuver not to make mistakes and be consistent you don’t test the riskier portions of your game. During a match after the first set you assess what is working and what is not and build the best strategy for that day with the game you bring in that day. If you refuse to take risks you cannot off set your opponents best tennis. You hope your opponent makes mistakes which depending on the player you can’t always count on.

Imagination vs repetition . Vicario returned every ball right down the center returning everything like a wall, no imagination or creativity. Hingis tennis IQ was 50 points above Vicario. Opposites. Most opponents tried to out AST Vicario but often this led to mistakes. Creativity is rewarded with slam titles and Vicario won as many as she could with her game which was limited. She did not go for balls and returned everything down middle avoiding the lines. Nauseating to watch and for the opponent. Hingis had the intelligence to expose Vicario. No one will remember Vicario, she won her millions just by returning the ball which at the time beat number 6 on. So she won a lot of money. Not a looker until she was 35,, Vicario bloomed to a beautiful woman in her adult life. A late bloomer physically.

@Felix Fernandez siiii fuera 📤en el Torneo de Sydney 1998 si mal no recuerdo, por cierto eses partidos contra las Williams tenéis que subirlos y sobretodo el de la Final contra Venus. ☺
