I studied cosmetics and am working as developer in personal care industry. Wanted to clarify on alcohol part. When brands say Alcohol-free , it means Ethyl alcohol free in general. Cetearyl alcohol and others fall under different section called Fatty alcohols, Although the name is associated with alcohol the primary origin is plants . Infact US FDA says ‘You can call a product alcohol-free if it contains cetearyl alcohol’.
