Very good video! I need the extra little bit of room for me just to be outside of the camper for a little bit, and I can leave the travel trailer door open so my Sheltie can go in and out of the travel trailer to our sheltered enclosed shelter when she wants. And the best reason you did this project …. was to keep your wife happy to go camping with you!! What a blessing!!! Ty again.

I like teardrops, but agree that having a standing height connected area to change clothes, have room for a small table and chair for eating, and put a “bathroom” off to the side is a “necessity.” And a good cube tent doesn’t take up that much space or weight ( just a bit of time to set up and take down).

Phenomenal mod!!! I watched it yesterday and went straight to Lowes. I used a 6'-12' pole ($16.00ea) Then I deviated again using the 3/4 T PVC but added a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer so it fit on the pole tighter. Followed your instructions and it works like a CHAMP! Sewing trick since both fabrics are slippery is to use pins to pin the seams/fabric together at intervals and remove when your sewing foot gets close to it. You can also staple them and use a staple remover. You may have some holes left behind but they're small.

Nice! I did the same with my awning room a few years ago but I just velcro sewed around the cutout and stuck around the door. It sealed it up pretty well but putting it up and taking it down was tricky some days when the velcro kept catching. The only tools I used were scissors and a sewing awl.

Just to give you a heads up we will have several videos coming out in the future dealing with modifications to strengthen the ARB room set up. I could definitely see where there were a couple of weaknesses at to the setup. That said we had it out in 40 mile per hour winds and intense rainstorms. But even the room by itself puts a load on parts of the structure. You might want to keep your eyes out for the videos when they come out.
@johanna76362 жыл бұрын
@@adventuresofthememorymakers I do look forward to hearing what you have to say. Summer of 2021 we were camping and had torrential rains and wind. Both of our ARB awning/tents were destroyed. The weight of the rain on the awning and the winds caused the poles to snap. Then in turn ripped (or should I say “shredded”) our tent walls! Bought new awnings and tents in 2022 and another downpour snapped one of the ARB awnings. Ugh! Fortunately we had the poles from the prior units and made a fix. I’m learning that we need to adjust how we set it up.

I can see how this mod can be modded to work with other types of awning rooms for other campers. As you mentioned, this one won't work on a Plus due to door height relative to awning height. One thing that's not super to me is how you attached the spacer support board to the door frame. Nice video!

Great video and really good job on the mods. I am convinced this is what I need for my campervan. A question if you please: What is the distance from the channel on the awning room to the seam in the seam in the floor. Placement of the awning on my bubble top campervan will be critical. If too high on the fiberglass "bubble", then the floor does not reach the ground. Too low and I have folded material at the ground. I could wait until I receive both the the awning and the awning room, but if you can provide that measurement, I can do some preplanning on fitment. Thank you in advance. Enjoy and safe travels.
@adventuresofthememorymakers2 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video and I think you will love the mod once you get it done. I am not sure about the distance to the seam but from the track I installed along the bottom of the door to the ground is 23" and 68½ to the track above the door. Our ARB awning is 77" from the bottom of it mounting track to the ground. We will be having more ARB room modification videos coming out soon so please be sure to Subscribe and click the bell icon to get notified when they come out.

I'm thinking about doing this to my room and do you think a 1x4 or a 1x6 would work for the bottom piece? Is there any studs to screw into or just the door frame studs?
@adventuresofthememorymakers2 жыл бұрын
I would refrain from using real wood as it will retain moisture, swell, and just make a mess of things. The poly board is the the ticket. If your doing this on a Bushwacker 10 series like ours there are aluminum "studs" running down the sides of the door opening and then a wall base plate running along the bottom. Can't say for sure about other campers.
@roberttretsch87942 жыл бұрын
Another quick question assuming yours is the 2500 x 2500 awning room. Could you please give me the dimensions on the vehicle side panel that has the door in it. Obviouly it is 2500 mm wide, but where does the opening start and end.
@adventuresofthememorymakers2 жыл бұрын
I honestly can't answer that unless I set up the awning and room and took measurements. It really is not critical so long as you have you room between the door edge and the zipper in the awning room wall that goes against your camper so you can sew the nylon pocket with the bungee cord inside it to your awning room wall. That distance is probably going to be different from camper to camper. Please share some pics when you get yours done. Love to see it.

@adventuresofthememorymakers Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind comment. The ARB and other mounted awnings like it are not free standing. They must be mounted to your camper or vehicle. On our teardrop the roof rack works great for that. On my enclosed trailer it can be mounted directly to the side of it. But they are not free standing awnings.
