Outstanding Pat, what size bar are you running on the 592XP? Full comp chain?? How do you find the 592???

Your chunk out method doesn’t make much sense if that wasn’t a birch tree and you had targets under you that screams disaster to me. A deep notch makes a lot more sense then whatever it was you were doing

I do not understand what you mean.. There is no targets close so I just do snap-cuts? Its much faster than doing deep notches for no reason?

if this tree had been straight and you bang a wedge beside the holding wood you would crack the holding wood and it would go over the shoulder because the holding wood is like a hinge its meant to hold when the force is applied cross ways to the holding wood by putting the wedge there you will apply force inline with holding wood so it could break yes i have done that too and had a tree go over the shoulder and i had a smaller tree and like almost 6cm holding wood almost half the tree be careful up there

I am only putting the wedge when I have a lean to that side to not put to much pressure on the hinge and keep it from collapse. I am not using that wedge to get the tree to go over. I am well aware what a hinge is supposed to do when felling a tree.
