I never played Space Ace, Dragon's Lair and Firefox because it was so expensive to play. I just watched people play 😀

I remember walking into my local bowling alley when I first heard, and then saw Dragon’s Lair. I simply couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I managed to beat Dragon’s Lair, Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair II in the arcade using real money!

Incredible. I can appreciate how advanced Laser Disc technology was back in the 80’s. I never heard of an arcade console using Laser Disc to power the game before.

You were playing in Cadet mode , what's so funny I have the game on my Iphone now , both Dragon's Liar and Space Ace and I remember spending so much money to master ACE mode in the 80s and I was a Adult as well LOL

This was a great review! I liked the story format. I know this probably took some time to make . I appreciate it and wish more people would tell stories of arcade experiences. Keep it up , I hope you make more

I was hooked and tryin to buy the real arcade game ever since but couldn’t find one 😢 thank goodness the mini arcade replicade made one now and I have it and life is good ❤

Great overview and fair play to dedicating the time to learning the game - not an easy task for most. 🙋🏻‍♂️

I played this game in my city Málaga (South of Spain) in the 80's in arcade saloon. Nostalgia time.

When I was 10 years old in the 80's I could only dream of the arcade guy doing something like that for me. That would be like winning the lottery lol.

Yep, and remember the Bowery Boys and The Little Rascals after the cartoons were over? So happy that I graduated high school in the 1980's. What a time it was to live.

One of my biggest regrets is selling my DL2 and space ace. I was going through a pinball phase and I wanted a few pins for the arcade so I sold. I miss my laser games 😞

I am more of a Doctor Who fan especially the Tom Baker episodes. Many thanks for posting the review of this age-old video game I used to play as a kid. Plenty of good times (I used to play at Aladin's Castle at the local mall). "Dragon's Lair" and "Space Ace" were masterpieces from animator Don Bluth. I agree with you about 50 cents being highway robbery which was why I didn't play these games much. I love the visual difference between the laserdisc and the blu-ray.

I heard that there are 2 volume nobs inside the space ace and dragons lair arcade cabinet, 1 for sound effects and 1 for music, I think you'd be doing the world a favor if you recorded and posted the music on the internet (because lets face it, the music in this game is awesome)

By the time when the late 2000s and the early 2010s came, I found out what was already revealed to me about Don Bluth. He was definitely blacklisted from Walt Disney; sometime during the late 1970s or the early 1980s. I've read this from the book, written by Steven L. Kent; it's called 'The Ultimate History of the Video Games.' What could've been the best of Don Bluth? Was it when he first created, the semi live action cartoon movie called 'Pete's Dragon?' It's a 1978 release that stars Jim Backus, as the city mayor. This movie was a musical movie. Since I've just mentioned this movie, did you notice that the Delaveaga Elementary school's mascot is the dragon? This school is located in Santa Cruz County CA. Don Bluth is going to find this hard to believe, regarding of what he has first started.🌟 🤩 ⭐️ 🌠 💫 ✡️ 🌟 🤔

I have a question I recently went to a bowling alley and they had a multi tap arcade machine with space ace on it.When playing the game it gave me an option to turn hints on or off hints being arrows showing you what to do rather than flashes.Was this an option on the original machine or is this a modified or rereleased version of the game?
@thebasementarcade
@thebasementarcade 2 жыл бұрын
That is a modified or rereleased version. The original version has flashes only, no arrows, and certainly no option to turn anything on and off.

@@thebasementarcade were hints in the games code.Like I know some arcade machines can be tampered with to acsess a lower or higher difficulty setting or a free play mode

Rabbits by Terry Miles brought me here......haha never actually had heard of this one. This game looks so jokes. Those laser disks are freakin bigger than the size of my head LOL. the voice acting and dialogue i caaaant "get me out of heeere" i legit was laughing out loud how corn ball this is. Borf has godda be the worst sounding name for a villain ive ever heard. but i love it and am totally here for it
