It's hard to believe we're all in our 50s now, and there are no more arcade game rooms. Arcades were our favorite hangout places. If I had all those quarters back, I'd be a rich man now. Lmao!
@MattMcIrvin5 жыл бұрын
They used to be in every shopping mall! Nowadays, the arcades that do exist are full of silly redemption ticket games. But there are some old-school ones here and there. My current local favorite is Electric Avenue in Manchester, NH... I don't think they have a Joust though.
@georgeshelton62814 жыл бұрын
Alan Morris; like I've said it once before, nothing beats the good old days of the classic video arcade game machines. The very worse VG (video game) is called 'Mortal Combat.' Also 'Night Trap' is the same thing.

I’m about to be be 40 and Although I come from a different generation of arcade gamers (80’s and 90’s) there was nothing like the arcade culture back in the 70’s (from what I’ve heard and seen) 80’s and 90’s. Back when console graphics were no where close to arcade perfect and pc gaming was reserved for white collared dads and nerds. Walking into arcade and seeing what games were crowded around and what rare jewels were lurking in the back of a arcades corner. I played this at a arcade called nickel city that had games that were free play. I played this every time I went to nickel city as well as the game that was next to this one (which happened to be Atari’s 720). I feel bad for today’s generation and that they will never know what it was like to be in a arcade, sometimes as late as 11pm on a Friday or Saturday night. It was a great time and we were lucky to experience it.
@Quadrupliplex3 жыл бұрын
arcades still live, albeit inside bars now. the trend is to have an arcade bar. Just got back from one. Wish they had joust there though. I'm in my 30s and do remember growing up going to the arcade in the mall.
@somebodyoncerolledme72113 жыл бұрын
@@EDGar-wi6np Yeah born in '92 and totally missed the arcade era, whether the golden era or afterwards. It's just not the same experience playing these games on an emulator, a console they got ported to or even a mini arcade system. Just one of those things late 70's-80's kids had over 90's kids.

I recall I was going back and forth with another player setting the high score back in the early 80s I believe. I set one summer day aside to settle it. I planned it out so that I would maximize my time on the machine. I showed up at the arcade as it opened and played for 10 hours. I believe I left with 20,000,000 as the high score. I recall the manager of the arcade caught wind of my playtime as other folks were viewing my play. He came and talked to me and realized I was on his machine for ten hours on a quarter. The week after, I came in and my score was reset and the difficulty of the early stages was reset to the most difficult setting. Ah the memory’s of a childhood spent playing arcade games :).
@jasoncorder54265 жыл бұрын
When I was 12, in Marin County, I learned a glitch from this younger kid and one Saturday I played at a 7/11 in Fairfax on one quarter for 14 straight hours. The score I got was much higher than the one listed in Joystick mag at the time as the national high score. It was where, if you didn't move, once the pterodactyls come out, they fly right into your lance.

I played it back in the day in the arcade. Stores would typically have a game set on one of the highest settings. But, arcades normally would have a game set on it's hardest setting. And, yes Joust was set on the hardest one. My typical game lasted me 45 seconds start to finish.

I used AI to find this information, but AI tends to be very inaccurate. So please, may you clarify the following information? The number FF06B5 is a hexadecimal value that represents the green dragon's character data in the game's memory. When you press the buttons on your controller, the game reads the input and changes the value of the character data to FF06B5. This tells the game to load the green dragon's character model and animations into memory. The combination of buttons is a specific sequence that the game's developers chose to use to trigger the cheat code. The buttons are pressed in a specific order because the game's memory is organized in a specific way. When the game reads the input from the controller, it looks for a specific pattern of button presses in a specific order. If it finds the pattern, it knows to change the value of the character data to FF06B5. It's important to note that the number FF06B5 and the combination of buttons are specific to the original Joust arcade game.
