I've seen the Q*Bert Board Game at a local thrift, but it was missing a lot of pieces so I passed it by. I've never seen (or heard of this). Exciting!

Appreciate the trip down the lane. One of the games my friends and I played a lot - since it was one of the only four player games that wasn't Monopoly or Life. Loved playing the blue car since the deck was "stacked" with cards to make up for going last.

Hi, Jon.👋 This is rare … a Monday night video from you. Pole Position board game from 1983?!🤔 Looks like a good, fun game. Thank you for the video. See you again next time.

I had the Berzerk and Pac-Man board games back in the day, and I played them and loved them. The first time I went to the National Videogame Museum years ago, they had them and many others I never knew existed on display, like Zaxxon, Donkey Kong, and Frogger.
@CaptainRufus21 сағат бұрын
Zaxxon is possibly one of the best cover arts on a board game. At least the painted one. It goes way too hard for a board game in the early 80s. Or now for that matter.

I've seen video game adaptations of board games, but I've never seen that board game. That one reminds me of my favorite Christopher Cross album.

Had no idea it existed. Looks nice and they certainly thought about how to make this interesting. Like your typical arcade game, this won't take long to play, so that's nice. Not one I would come back to after having played it two times, I think: much luck needed, little strategy involved. But it's neat for sure.

my first ever "videogame" was the lcd race car, maybe it was 1985 at 8 years old, and until 1992 ( with the NES) that was my only own videogame, except if paying on arcade bars. i remember pole position as a very expensive gambling for few moments of playing whislt my "game & watch" (actually sold at watches shop) i played countless hours, at least one hour a day. for free. but pole position is more sophisticated ( with colours!) than the handheld. i know they released a mini arcade version, but i wish they do the pocket player version because that will be the perfect match for my beloved childhood lcd handheld game & watch chinese copy we call in spain maquinita. ( lil machine).

Personally it seems there were a great alternative for waiting for the console ports at that time),hope someday they make remakes of those arcade classics but as a reward for limited editions of retro arcade cabinets.

I almost feel that if you had two 6 sided dice and and 12 options based on the dice role, it would move faster. And maybe like Monopoly, special spaces with a deck with events like spin outs and oil slicks or even drafting so you can get extra moves or something.
@GenXGrownUp23 сағат бұрын
I understand why the deck instead of dice - it ensures all options occur before the recur whereas dice wouldn't. The special spots is a great idea.

Avalon Hill made some kind of Indy 500 type board game around the early 80's. Much more statistical and based on real driver stats I think. Been a long time. I think you could drive safe, try to floor it to pass, etc. You might blow your engine, etc.

Looks like a decent board game but other than the name and the fact it’s motor racing don’t really see the connection with the arcade game, perhaps if they had followed the track layout from the game it might have given it more of a claim to be the board game version of the arcade, still very cool though
