80s and 90s were fantastic for arcade games. I 'm glad I was of that generation to experience them... Good thing MAME exists to replay them again for FREE!

Oh the glory of Arcades! i recall people used to melee enemies all the way to the boss just to avoid wasting ammo on that that Super gun. They only fired it if absolutely necessary. Two quick shots and the boss is dead. (double crane, wrecking ball)

The arcade version in the game appears in the Nickelodeon shows All That (from 1994 to 1997) and Kenan and Kel. However both shows shared the same cabinet, but with different fictional marquees.

I remember seeing this game in the local arcade back in the late 80's, but I never played it. I remember this arcade game always having people playing it all the time. Mostly because the Robocop 1 movie had just came out, and it was all the buzz at the time.

The gameplay is similar to Data East's arcade game Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja, released earlier the same year. Robocop is a hybrid game, featuring elements from both beat 'em up as well as run and gun games.

I think that Ocean's 8bit game came first, then the coin op, they have similarities. The Amiga/ST versions probably based on the coin op. 0:25 you see licenced from Ocean

Looks so much better than the nes version. There is some kind of arcade machine emulator that can play games like this and T2 but they are non standardized and weirdly complex and I could never get one to work.

Why does he need to dodge bullets, anything under 50 cal bounces off him. It takes intense sustained fire from a literal PLATOON with rifles (m16 and etc) to make him stumble.

@ It _kind of_ does, actually, but they had to take liberties to turn the movie into a game that can be beaten in less than a half hour. Also, IIRC, the entire game including all music and graphics assets had to fit into 512 KiB. The NES game was a port of this one, by the way. A completely different Robocop game was released the next year for the Commodore 64, MSX, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC, as well as PC compatibles, which bore only a loose resemblance to this game.
