Still my favorite game after all these years. I can even remember all the places where I would see a Street Fighter II machine in my youth. There were folks lined up to play this at the laundromat, liquor store, swapmeet, burger stand, pizza joint, donut shop, video rental store, car wash, movie theater/drive-in, bowling alley, skating rink, and the barbershop. I even saw this game at a clothing store in the hood and also at a teenage nightclub when I was 15 (no lie, they had both The World Warrior and Turbo). Only reason I didn't mention the arcade is because people were already dropping quarters on the machine over there from jump

Love the beautiful palm tree in Sagat's stage, which was seen only in this version, but taken out of all subsequent releases, including the good, but still somewhat bogged down Super Nintendo port. To think this epic masterpiece was what was started the whole one on one fighting craze, which continues to this day, and was one redifining moment in video-game history. It was so amazing that it's initial sequel managed to even have it's own series for five whole games, which you'll never see anything like again. Such fine times this game sure brings back in so many ways, back from when I was still in early elementary school, without hardly a care, nor worry in the world, and could easily be impressed by almost anything, unlike these days when reality set in a long time ago. How I miss that great world so much, when we did so much more with far less too.

I lived right across from a liquor store (hood life represent!) where we they would have some of the most memorable arcades during that time (Final Fight, Rastan, WWF Wrestlefest, etc..), but once this got dropped off, that was the end of your quarters as the bottom of the monitor trimming was lined up with them, with kids from the neighborhood ready to play and saying "I got next". The game changer that this game was. I remember when this game came out. The arcade section at Smith's was super busy for some reason. Everyone was crowding one game, with at least 10 quarters on the glass. It took months of trying to find a open machine that know one was playing to try and learn the moves (this was before published move sets). Also remember how awesome it was seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was always cool to hear real music coming from a arcade machine. So to hear the Turtles theme song from the TV show was amazing to 10 year old me.

To fully appreciate sf2. You have to have come from an era that played golden axe, double dragon. Then this came on the scene and teenage kids were getting into fights whilst playing this game. Kids hated getting beating and took it personally. It was just crazy.
