This game is really underrated. I admit when I first played it, I thought it was kinda meh, but the more I played it and thinking of different strategies to beat each level, I started to have more and more of a good time.

So what was the Gain Ground System? A planet-cloning device?

Gain Ground was set in a future where world peace had been achieved. Problem was, no more fighting meant that humanity's fighting spirit was starting to atrophy. What if something like an alien invasion happened? We'd get wiped out! The Gain Ground System was meant to help revive humanity's fighting spirit but the system malfunctioned. So you have to go in there, rescue any survivors stuck inside and shut the Gain Ground System down!

Nice graphics, but the constant sound hesitation/slowdown is annoying (I'm assuming that happened on the original arcade hardware), makes the genesis version preferable for lack of that alone.

Uhm no lmao, all these constant slowdowns and sprite flicker are just the case of bad emulation that isn't present on original hardware.

This game is really terrible. The player is so disadvantaged it's insane. The fastest player and characters are no match for the computers faster players. The range of these computer players is insane, the 3-4 second "moving forward" of the human's next player leaves the human at a. terrible position while the computer players close in on the human player. Absolutely awful game vastly improved in the Genesis/MegaDrive version.
