Tecmo Knight, known in Japan as Wild Fang, is a 1989 beat 'em up arcade game developed and released by Tecmo.
The story on the American arcade flyer is very simplistic: Tecmo Knight, the brave ancient warrior, came to do battle with the diabolical beast known as 'Wild Fang'. But before he can meet this challenge, he must defeat Wild Fang's group of evil monsters.

That intro traumatized me as a kid in my local arcade. Images burned in my brain but never connected it to Tecmo Knight until decades later.

This Arcade game looks awesome and inspiring 😺👍🕹️. It's like, ALTERED BEAST meets GOLDEN AXE. I had both of those games for my Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️🕹️.

Omg this game is AWESOME--- and I never heard of this game, nor do I remember even seeing it or anything randomly at a mall or hotel game room or shit.... So now that THAT'S out of the way, let me say: "WHAT IN THE BURNING CROTCH OF HELL IS THIS GAME?!?!?!?" I mean that in a good way...I clicked for the title, going out loud, "tecmo.... KNIGHT....?," as I'm making coffee & a goof little PBNB&J sandwich...I look and see some little guy on the shoulders of some big dude, ok cool, nice character..... I continue with my stuff, glance back, I see them punching &/or slicing heads off, ok MINT 👍 I'm always for graphic video game violence, or just good ol fashioned graphic violence in general... another moment or 2 just hearing it, I look back, some big ass GORILLA is swinging his arms like a Simpsons drawing!! Didn't think a giant gorilla would make the cut, but i AM starting to think that a giant 72+ HOUR COKE BINGE WAS included in the making of this game! Wifey comes down and says goodbye as she leaves for work, I look back here RIGHT after.....aaaaaand now Mr. Diminutive is RIDING A DANG TIGER--- and I realize I'm not even 5 minutes into this one!!! Yeah, between alllll that awesome, AWESOME lunacy and the dope music, this one is gonna be a full watch str8 until my stupid, unnecessary, weekly conference call in an hour..... Oh and I almost forgot, the gorilla may now be King Kong, what with the steel wrist locks he's brandishing! I know the times don't match up, but I swear, it wouldn't shock me if a pixelated Denzel Washington comes flying in on a rope in the one hand, in the other a desert eagle, sprayin bullets, bellowing, "KING KONG™️ AINT GOT SHIT ON ME!," and THAT'S how you survive this scene that I've puased to concoct this long ass but completely necessary comment!

I appreciate that all the bad guys see you punching their friends' heads off, just punching the head off every single person you come in contact with in the exact same manner, and still they're all "I gotta get a piece of that action."

It's kinda like that action movie trope, where the hero beats up 20 guys, and that ONE GUY who's outside the fight the whole time just now decides it would be a great idea to try it himself.

Some creepy monsters. I mean, the red turtle and blue long armed dudes! Bleeding faces also remind me of Splatter House, the freakiest game ever.

Jesus, that intro. This looks like the type of game in their backlog that they should merge into the DOA and Ninja Gaiden universe. Pretty sure that "Insert Credit" noise was used in arcade Ninja Gaiden, actually...

It's made from the same engine, which explains why, and it also borrows other sound effects from Arcade NG.

They should add Godzilla. Sure King Kong is cool. And this game does use the idea of using a tiger, a giant, and a dragon. Plus this game should be consider a Halloween game because it includes monsters.

You can see where this takes place in the Rygar world. The weapon he uses, the turtle enemies you fight, even that one big statue looks like Rygar's final boss. Tecmo is clever.

Omg, I somehow added my big ass comment too SOON--- its a pair of orange, purple beaked, vulture humanoids, ripped to shreds COCKDIESEL, and both have Captain Hook hands! The only way that'd be better is if they had shoehorn hands* instead (*let's see who gets THAT reference)

I have played games like Mortal Kombat in the past, but there's something about the violence here that seems a bit gratuitous. At least MK has solid gameplay to rely on, know what I mean? The graphics here have this garish and unappealing look

It's a top notch brawler that in some ways feels more fun to play than the ones that would come out years later. More reactive than later beat em ups since most enemy attacks have wind ups you can react to. The longplay doesn't show it but switching between the giant and tiger and the i-frames switching gives is a super important mechanic that adds a lot of strategy and depth (longplay was probably TAS'd or cheating like most).
