Appreciate the honest review. I considered it last week until I saw it added tax, and I couldn't stomach the over 1k price. What's funny is when I changed the address to my sister's place in a different state, it didn't add the tax. I guess I'm being penalized for living in Texas lol. Also, I bet the reason it's back in stock now is because they freed up some more stock from what they were holding back in case they needed parts. I think I remember John D saying that they do that sometimes if they think the failure rates are going to be low enough. Regardless , I can't imagine there being much more left, and it's a great looking cab.You should definitely be proud of being one of a few people in the world that has one!

Good morning Phil, this is a review I was really looking forward to. First like you said there will always be pros and cons. But the size of the cab, the monitor size, the working lighted coin doors, the arcade feel joystick and buttons and the Yamaha speakers the pros outweigh the cons. i feel you made the right choice. Imagine if A1UP would have released cabs similar to KI Pro, the difference in quality the thickness. Not only that if it’s really sold out Phil I think the choice is a no brainer, glad you picked up this cab. I think I paid full price on Ki 3/4, and to me was worth it, always been a fan of KI and battletoads. If I would have saved up a little more I would have gone for the pro. Still love my 3/4 KI. Great review and can’t wait to play battletoads👊🏼and congrats again in picking up this gorgeous cab.

I have the KI pro and think it is great. Defintiely the best version of the cab. Your review is spot on. Not worth the $999, but worth owning and I am happy to have it in my collection.

Great review! Thanks for the measurements as I was able to compare it to my ALU, and it just makes me even more thankful for it. I’m happy you got this even if it cost more than your estimate value. That extra cost is just chalked up to the premium of “having what you want”. Which all manufacturers know exist, be it cars, action figures, or home arcades. But you have it and you’ll just smile every time you look at it … and that will in time greatly overshadow whatever you paid. Have a blessed day PD7 👊🏻😎🕹️

Congrats on getting KI assembled, and running! Yeah, for that price point, they really should've given you a 22" or 24" monitor. Not sure, but I thin I'd install casters on the lower rear to be able to move that behemoth easily. Yeah, I kind of wish A1up would discontinue forcing us to buy extra stuff we don't need, and just let us by that stuff from their store, if we want, or need it. It would bring the cabinet price down, considerably. I'm glad to see one of my suggestions to them come to fruition in the form of functional coin rejectors to coin up with. I sent that to them when they first started with the molded coin doors. Others may've requested that feature, I'm sure. LOL I think you're gonna need a bigger room. ;)

Thank you Thomas, I wish every cab was made this way or close to it. I think the fear of these selling out and not being able to get them later on will push us to grab up cabs we weren’t necessarily going to get. I have my eye on a few others now just in case :) Great suggestion to 1up!

Nice review of KIPro and great job assembling it. That's cool they include Battletoads. Yes, 699 seems more reasonable than 999, especially since they're making the customer do all the work assembling it together too. They should take $100 off just for that. ;)

Phil, I agree with you about the screen size and the marquee, but... it still looks awesome. I like the t- molding and the size. Wish all my cabs were this size. Ps... funny you say you purchased KI for Battle Toads. I only played that once since purchasing the cab 2 yrs ago, 3/4 scale. I'll certainly have to try it out.. I do love the Final Fight beat em up. It looks like you did get the last one. I have been wanting one for a long time but once I finnally got the money and went to the website it's no longer even listed there at all. it's odd because other cabs are still listed and say sold out, but this one don't even show up when you search for it on their website so that makes me wonder if they still have a few left in inventory or if they will do another batch. I also really, really, really wanted their Pac Man XL and their Star Wars one, but both of those sold out before I could ever buy them too. For a company that seems to be hard up for money these days and not doing good I do not understand why they don't reissue the Killer Instinct Pro XL, The Pacman XL and the Star Wars.... there's still high demand for those 3 from people like me who never were able to get one before they sold out. I don't understand why they even do limited runs, why not just keep everything always available to order but only build it when its ordered, a build on demand option maybe instead of just being like nope sold out you will never own one now.

Great review man and that machine for sure looks great minus the flaws. I would for sure swap out that marquee for a better one when you can. And I personally wouldn't care about a light up control panel with that particular one. As the OG didn't light up at all. Dude I had my anxiety go up some tonight just a bit ago! I felt something crawling on my foot and figured is was some kind of bug. Well......I saw a glimpse of a tail and flipped it off and stomped it real quick! It was a freaking Arizona bark scorpion! One of the deadliest creatures in the United States! Oh my Lord thank God he didn't sting me! I took a couple of pics with him dead and even touching the tail with an object it moved! Holy smokes it is going to be tough to fall asleep tonight.

Glad you were able to get it before it sold out. They should make that game in a countercade. Spinal's my favorite character, because he's a skeleton. He's all boney. I also like Jago and T.J. @@PDX7 ya man, my biggest complaint with the 3/4 is the control deck. If it had the mk30th design it would be perfect. Ki pros are hard to find in Canada, but it’s either that or find a mk30th or yoga flame, drop the ki pcb in and reskin it. Great review

if u played in the arcades back in the day the sticks should be fine. it was when it was around the sf4 days was when everyone was transitioning to Japanese style sticks so maybe that might be complaint for some.

Killer Instinct used Happ joysticks, which is what this has. I think the issue is with the type of Happ joysticks used on this cab. But fortunately I suspect it would be easy to swap the joysticks out for either better Happ sticks or IL Euro joysticks (which are surprisingly inexpensive).

I got slightly triggered watching you play KI heh. Agreed on the monitor. The monitor looks small compared to the cabinet and should be 24”. I honestly don’t like the chrome t-molding either. It doesn’t look bad, it’s just not arcade accurate. I also have no interest in the stools or mats on any of them. Those should be accessories you can buy and not bundled in.

I didn’t like the chrome at first, but when I unpacked everything and assembled it really looks sharp especially in the dark. I ran out of time and didn’t want to drag this video out with the accessories I’m not super into getting them but they’re growing on me too lol they better because I spent a ton for it! Might be a follow up coming on those, I can see why people sold them I’ve decided to keep everything as a reminder.

I think it’s worth it. These will only go up in value unless they do a rerelease. I doubt they will doesn’t seem like they sold good from the start. Sometimes you just got to pay up for quality. I’m a big believer in that. Yeah and I want it for battle toads was never really into KI. I was more into mortal kombat and street fighter when I was younger. Imagine if they did a battle-toads cabinet instead this thing would of sold out from the start. Who ever is making these decisions don’t realize that GenX is prime mover and buyer of these products, I can even see that.

Isn't that thing about $1,000? For particle board? I would of just went for a full size 32" screen real wood arcade from Game Room Solutions at that price point. As soon as that chrome trim gets a single ding or scratch it sticks out like crazy.

Unfortunately yes Excaidus, but I wanted the online play for Battletoads and I know it sounds nuts but would have been tough fitting anything bigger in that space. The chrome is a good feature, but yes any scratch I’m in trouble :)

It’s not much different in price, but I went with KI first for online play and the close to full size cab I can ever get upstairs. 4k is still happening, the struggle was making it work for both :)
