Now that I've got my cab assembled here are a few thoughts about the controls: -The joysticks are significantly better than previous stock AC1-ups. They are similar to Happ style levers with high tension springs and no noticeable dead-zone. My original plan was to replace them but I have decided they are solid enough to keep. -The joysticks come with circle gates instead of the usual square gates which is more arcade accurate. Personally, I'm going to upgrade to octo-gates which are a low cost improvement for novices. -The buttons are passable. They've got less travel than previous gen buttons and feel smoother. I'm undecided if swapping these would be necessary. I do have some spare Sanwa buttons (same light blue colour too) so I'll check if the holes are the right size to accept them. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. Maybe I'll upgrade when the Pro is released and give this unit to a buddy so we can play together online. As it stands now though this is a keeper.

I’m currently saving for this cabinet. I don’t think I can justify the pro series with prices being higher. Rumors say above $1000 for the pro line, so I’ll stick with the 3/4 arcade. At the end of the day it’s killer instinct! Nothing wrong in my book.

I'm glad I canceled my pre-order for KI once the news of the Pro Series being released. Fingers crossed the Pro Series has no issues. But with A1up's history, I'm not too optimistic. After all these cabinets and several years later, it still amazes me that their QAQC still sucks. No excuse for speakergate or the other issues you pointed out. These are rookie mistakes.

I currently own the Cab and I love it.Personally I didn't want to get the pro because I would not have the space in my one bedroom condo. This was the perfect size and I love the fact that I can add all the mods I want to it myself. I have already updated the sticks an buttons and I have also updated some of the art work as well.

Regarding a couple of the issues you mentioned: we're not aware of characters dying with health remaining, except as intended in online when your opponent rage quits. If your opponent rage quits (leaves in the middle of the game), we make the emulator kill their character immediately by zeroing out their health. (We'd've done this for NBA Jam rage quitters, too, if it was possible to kill players in NBA Jam.) On another point, we have not received any reports of crashes outside the end credits. Could you elaborate what you're referring to there? We do have a solution for the end-credits crash (a result of the original ROM performing an illegal memory access) but want to check out a few other issues (such as the win-loss progress issue) before turning over a patch to Arcade1Up. Regarding the speakers... any issues with high volumes will not be a software issue.

As always Code Mystics appreciate you guys being transparent and willing to communicate with Consumers. I personally feel that is super cool of you. Reports of game crashing are noted on the Arcade1up Killer Instinct Facebook Group, there's a few posts in there. With the characters dying on screen there was a KZbin video showing this. If the game disconnects 2 players, is it possible it is assuming somebody rage quit and ending the fight? I'll find the video and link it here when I wake up in the morning.

Basically when you beat the game it just plays the video and just goes back to the main menu without credits. Also why does your local play effect your online play leaderboards? My online record has been the same for almost 2 weeks now and its frustrating. Yes I have played plenty over my current leaderboards record and its still not updating. Please fix these if you can.

I have not had any of the leader boards or powering issues yet-- some small lag delay from time to time when playing online only depending on how good the internet service is on both players… I did upgrade sound and marquee in my videos-- which I kind of new was a must for this cab and was willing to do that anyways.. Overall, I’ve been thrilled with the game and it’s honestly one of my best cabs!!!! Thanks dubs👍

Great video PDubs. Yes there are issues that all of us are bringing up, but yes it is great to be able to have a KI cabinet in the home. I love my purchase even though there are issues. It does get frustrating though lol

As an owner of the Arcade 1up Killer Instinct cabinet, I can vouch for all the technical issues mentioned. I can also say that yes, the cabinet is beautiful, the sticks are slightly better and the game's are awesome. However... Due to those technical issues, I personally can't enjoy the current software build for the cabinet (firmware update failure). I do like some others have a PCB on order. If you buy one that works out of the box, you will love it, but may still want to swap out buttons, speakers and possibly the sticks, unless you are fine with it.

As a self confessed enthusiasts who never played KI in the 90s, got my KI 1up last week and it's become a very addictive and a very attractive cab in my Arcade. Initially got it for my brother as its his favorite game and now I'm finding myself hooked! This cab screams mid 90s right down to the in game music. BattleToads Arcade is also a huge bonus. I find it even more fun than TMNT. Definitely a happy buyer on this cab. 👍

Solid list on both sides of the coin. I've been enjoying my cab so far, but I'm more of a casual player... I haven't really seen most of the software issues and my board seems to be powering on and off just fine. The biggest bummer for me is the crappy speakers. They are tinny and devoid of most mid and low range sound. There is some weird stereo positioning too that makes me feel like I can't stand too far to one side of the control panel without losing partial sound. This doesn't happen with any of my other cabinets. Sound and marquee are definitely going to be my next upgrades.

The sound is software equalizer related. The battle toads game sounds alot fuller and ki 1 sounds better it's just the ki2 that is missing some bass.

I have KI and I love it I haven't had no issues with power or crashing but I did notice when I beat KI1 it didn't show the credits it went straight to the menu window. I figured it was cause they didn't have the rights from Nintendo.

Hey PDubs, I realize this video is quite old now but I have a question about this cab. Was the technical issues with the Killer Instinct games ever fixed via software updates? I have a chance at a great deal for this cab I always wanted to get but I’m worried about these technical issues.

Outrageous price. Numerous quality issues. Crap marquee. Crap sound. 3 games (basically). I'm having a very difficult time justifying the price. This should have been a slam dunk, now A1Up has me researching multicades and it looks like I'm not going to be spending too much more for one. Unreal.

they cant ever seem to get anything right. I saw someone post the game is missing end credits. so what gives. are they selling 80% of a game and charging these prices. kinda sad when its cheaper to buy a generic cab and slap an xbox in it and get all that and more with better features for a cheaper price. Its just inexcusable they continue to do this to people and they get praised for releasing botched work.

A lot of these issues can be resolved via firmware fixes, etc so odds are these will go away in the near future, but yes, I hear what you're saying.
