I've done a few pandora boxes in these. I would really like to try this....................book marked. You might have been able to keep the on off switch? Not sure if the pi has a button setup for on off. Will learn it all soon. Or break my machine :)

Thanks for the video! I only want to upgrade the joystick. Is that just unplug and replug in the new or will I need to change some wiring?

If you're just upgrading the stick, I don't think the one in this video will work. However, before this mod, I upgraded the stock stick with one of these, and it was a huge improvement. You can set the gate to be 4 or 8 way (recommend 4-way for Pacman, etc). Great! But... Is it possible to have these vertical games (in full screen mode) and also have the horizontal 4:3 games, leaving a "black space" above and below the vertical monitor? Thanks in advance

This image only includes vertical games. However, you CAN do that with a different image, or if you set up your own.

I have just done exactly the same thing on a modded A1up cab inspired by your video. One question. Have you been able to get the 2 Player button working? ie, you have 2 credits, hit 2 player button, and then can alternate between 2 players with the 1 joystick? Thanks.

I did manage to get it working after a lot of trial and error. Unfortunately, I don't really remember exactly how I got it to work. You have to mess with the Input settings, under Quick Menu - Controls. Set Port 1 and Port 2 both to the same index, if I remember correctly. Then mess around with those settings a bit, you will probably figure it out. When you do, please share what the trick is because I honestly forgot! I wish I'd made a note about it. From a quick look, I have Port1 and Port2 on the same device index (in my case DragonRise USB controller). Port 1 select is Auto 10 (shift in my case), Port 1 Start is Auto 1 (Enter in my case). Port2 Start is Auto 10. Port2 Select is N/A (Off). Let me know if this helps!

If you're going to mod it, that's really just a question of which one you prefer the look of. XL is harder to take apart and reassemble. But if you're going to mod yours, you'll end up replacing the stick and games, so it's up to you

Sorry, I don't have footage of the P/N number, so I don't remember. You can find it by opening the back of your cabinet - it's right on the monitor itself

I have all the machines plugged into a power strip, which is turned on/off with a smart switch.

Got my 8 way joystick and buttons from tornado Terry as well a few years ago did a lot of homework I did accidentally pick up one before that though it was generic and once I got the real deal from tornado Terry you could easily tell the quality difference❤

I haven't done a PC mod, but I imagine it wouldn't be any more difficult, as long as you are able to set up the emulator to your liking

I thought Zaxxon was an 8 direction joystick game, not 4 ??

You are right - I've since disabled Zaxxon for that reason

You can run a script on your Pi to make it so that the original A1Up power switch works, and you can do the same for the volume switch, but you'd have to replace it with one of the older 3-way switches (it doesn't work with the newer ones). And yeah, if you don't care, that's fine too-- just a nice extra mod to do.

If I had known that, I would have done it! But, I'm happy with it as it is. I have plans to mod my TRON machine next - I might bug you with some questions about the power/volume switches when I start that project, if you don't mind :)

Not that I am aware of… I would think there would be a way to do that, especially for the power switch, but I haven’t seen anyone do it.

HI this is mike i have my own videos up on my Arcade1up pac-man XL you say you are using the USB to power the coin door and it would not work with the marquee please note the USB is only putting out 5v and the coin door lights are working with the 5v power hoverer the coin door is looking for 12vdc power and will wear out your 5vdc power source you are using the wrong input power

@@TreZ any USB plug you use no matter what it is a cell phone charger 5v dc not 12v dc you need 12vdc for your coin door and the marquee and video driver i have all the 12v dc run off a 12v switching power supply i also deal with DIY know Shane if i was you i would use a 12v switching power supply and use the +5v for your raspberry pi and 12v for everything 12v remember the power supply is Yellow is 12v and Red is 5v that is how jamma is but i know you not using jamma.
