I played The Southerner on flute in 1977 in the Azusa Aztec Marching Band with Tom Landis as music director. I'm now in the Jackson Hole Community Band. Our conductor programmed the same arrangement of The Southerner for our spring concerts. I'm finding it very distressing that I play music I rehearsed in 1977 better than I play music I rehearsed last week!!

299 band members and i think 41 dance guard girls (they were not in a block so i couldnt multiply # of ranks by # of poeple in rank) 19 dance guard girls in front (again give or take a few) and 1 drum major, so by my counting their are 360 people marching / dancing. the number seams to fit

As a parent of one son, I can't even begin to imagine the sorrow of a loss so profound. My thoughts are certainly with his parents....and what a fine drum major he was too.

@monacheband4life Check out 2:07 just watch the feet of the up comming line there is ONE person out of step what it looks like. But thats the only one I could see. I must admit AMAZING job!
