They actually reworked Neeko to make her passive more useful, and now she can turn into ANYTHING, like minions, plants, stuff like teemo shrooms, etc. The passive also continues working even after she takes damage.

Neeko's voice actress is Brazilian. Riot brought her to dub to demonstrate that she is not native. Flora Paulita is her voice in both PT and EN. (I used Google Translate to write this. LOL)

the interaction of neeko with taliyah, is because taliyah was intended to be a Trans person. but was scrapped for some reason, yet there is lots of implications on his story and lore about her finding her true self , like per example that she was seing as weird in is tribe for learning to weave instead of hunting ( impliying she was a boy and expected to do more masculine activities)

and a fun fact about neeko, she´s inspired in brazillian nature/culture, her voice actress is brazillin and she does the two languages!

I think Neeko has had a very positive reception among the League community. When she was initially released, she was slightly overpowered (her Ultimate did way too much damage) however after some initial balance changes she settled into a very niche, low pickrate champion. No-one 'hated' her, but barely anyone played her. Earlier this year they gave her kit a minor overhaul, making her passive able to take the shape of minions, jungle monsters and other objects on the rift which gave her a massive breathe of life into her kit. This skyrocketed her popularity, to the point where she is now a top-tier midlaner especially in Pro-play. Her gameplay is still the same, but she has more tricks in her bag now and its awesome to see the pro-players able to pull the Neeko shenanigans out on the stage. She's also just really fun to play. She's a very 'happy' champion to play, with all her joyful voicelines. Its almost like a built in anti-tilt lol.

Happy to see you reacting to Neeko! Your reactions don't disappoint. Also, the initial Shan Hai Scrolls skins were Neeko, Jhin, Cho'Gath and Nautilus. Later on they added 4 more. Those being Kog'Maw, Tahm Tench, Lillia and Bard. Wild Rift got 2 exclusive Shan Hai skins for Aatrox and Volibear. Also with Taliya, I THINK it's a reference to how Taliya's heavily hinted at being Transgender

More to that, originally she was supposed to be t*woman openly in her lore, but in the last moment they decided not to add it. I guess China, rusia, etc politics. With Riot adding now open gay characters not surprising that they're trying to do what they wanted with Taliyah

for context, the Seraphine thing you mentioned was a consequence of many bad things happening to the lore community at the time, which would be followed by the ruination event and riot stopping giving lore outside of riot forge and Legends of Runeterra (game which kind of "fixed" Seraphine league's mess) , of course there'll be always criticism , but league of legends community in general is very thankful for the amazing work rioters and artist give in making new characters for the game! sadly, a good team ≠ the best product when riot leaders don't consider original league's universe a priority or give enough time and resources for artists and writers in league team. I recommend you to watch Necrit's video "What Happened To League's Lore?" so you're filled in on what league's community has been dealing with since ruination event.

I be honest, when she appeared on Lor I really hoped for a Voice Line with Daani, who is I think Part Race of Neeko, tho nothing. On the one Side I understand, because well Neeko and Noxus are not a thing, tho not all Voice Lines are canon, where my hope originates from, well in general a Fun Character.

Azir is the place to start in Shurima. He is the leader and most of the other champions in the region revolve around him. Azir's story is the story of Shurima. He has a two part lore cinematic as well. Definitely start with Azir and then go from there.
