@@niallnochill yeah!! and sooo many characters keep doing that over and over. Even Marcus, the corrupted cop, did in fact save Vi's life when she was about to run back to Powder, but the way he went about it really didn't make the situation any better. Silco is right, in the long term Vander's passivity wouldn't save the Lanes from all the suffering and indignity at the hands of the upper city, but Vander is also right that Silco's proposed solution is at the cost of the undercity's soul. Just flawed people who mean well in their own way, inevitably biased from their own personal experiences and making their choices with the limited information they have. No one can see the whole picture, and it's equally fascinating and devastating to witness all the little pieces once they finally collide. And kind of like watching a car crash, you can't look away. :')

​@@myfall0036sadly enough powder wasnt even traumatized by the hit from vi herself. Watch the scene again and listen and look close, her first question after the Hit was "why did you leave me?!" She didnt care that Vi hit her. What hit powder was the fact Vi left her and told her she wasnt ready. With that in Mind watch the rest of the Episode again. Jinx just wants one thing: to Show everyone she IS ready and able to Do things right(in her eyes). The hit from Vi was more traumatizing for vi than for Jinx.

One thing I really like about the introduction to the Undercity (in episode one and four) that someone else pointed out, I forget who…is the music In episode one, it’s Welcome to the Playground. The tone being set is that life in the Undercity isn’t exactly PLEASANT, but it’s at least LIVABLE, there’s a sense of community. Meanwhile in episode four (without spoiling too much) the song playing is Dirty Little Animals, and the tone it sets is that the Undercity has become much more wild and degenerate, and significantly less safe, and any sense of community is completely gone.

First of all, thank you for appreciating Vander; yeah, he is really hot! :) The reason Marcus saved Vi was because if Vi went to save Powder, Silco would have killed her. And Silco isn't the typical villain-he's one of the best-written villains in TV series. The reason Silco empathizes with Powder is that he knows what it feels like to be in that situation because of what happened between him and Vander. The reason Vi hit Powder, I think, is because Vi was also a teenager when this was happening. She literally saw her entire family die in front of her in just a moment, and she wasn’t leaving or abandoning Powder-she just needed some space to process everything that happened. This show is just perfect because every character has a reason for their actions. They’re not just doing things because the plot needs them to; it's all beautifully written. Loved your reaction!

The game itself isn't necessarily bad, per say, but the playerbase is infamously toxic in the worst ways possible. I love Arcane and the rest of Riot's animations (their boyband HEARTSTEEL is my favourite, it's cute and funny and has at least 3 canon queer characters in the group) but I'd never play myself. I'm nonbinary, lesbian, a furry, and got at least 2 major mental illnesses. I'd be toast 😅

I'm extremely sapphic and even I can tell Vander is hot lmao But tbh, it really feels like while they were making this show they just said "let's give ~everyone~ someone they can find attractive" and then they did it. I mean seriously, there's Viktor if you like the sickly scientist type, Jayce if you want a young, smart idealist, Vi if you like hot-headed butch fighters (which I do), Caitlyn if you like caring but no-nonsense beauties, Mel if you like calculating and absurdly gorgeous women (also wealthy and powerful), Silco if you like cunning and driven manipulators, Vander for the emotionally intelligent bear lovers, Sevika if you like tough muscle mommies, Grayson if you like level-headed authority figures who try not to abuse their power, and at least two more that I'm not going to mention because they're a bit spoilery at this point. Bonus points for them all being traumatized in various ways that will likely be relatable to different people, and deeply impact their characterization.

"This has the potential to be the best thing I've ever seen." It might be. I'm 44 years old and it's easily in my top 5 favorite shows of all time, maybe top 3. Arcane managed to reach it on so many levels (groundbreaking animation, deep and complex themes, multi-dimensional character writing, stellar voice-acting, one of the most impressive scores/soundtracks I've heard in recent memory, not one but two well-constructed main plots that barely interact but still change everything for each other, etc) it's honestly unbelievable, and I don't know how they're going to even come close with the second season; but if anyone can do it, it's them.

Some off the backgrounds are indeed painted. Also the effects like smoke are 2D are painted on top off the CGI. The lighting is also sometimes done by computers and other times painted on by the animators. Those factors contribute to the way it looks.

It’s so awesome to see people still discovering this show! I’ve watched it about 15 times the past 3 years, and individual episodes many more than that. I have autism and Arcane became my special interest, and oh my goddd season 2 is going to be so good. The characters are so beautifully written. The more of a scientist you are the more lonely you become. Everybody is a villain in some sense. One of my personal favorite things was in the first episode when Vi was hit, that slow-mo was actually a really great use of writing female characters. A lot of times in shows, when women are badasses they never get hit and never get “ugly”. Arcane is breaking these stereotypes and it’s awesome! Making Heimerdinger cute to make viewers not care as much about his mistakes is also such a cool detail. So much was put into this show. And the fact it doesn’t give you things straight up, and you have to learn by watching and rewatching! The world building 🤌🤌

Yeah... episode 3 is where optimism about where the show is going dies. Awful as it might sound, it is one of the biggest reasons I love watching reactions to this show XD The narrative optimism that people cling so desperately to throughout it... look, this is unequivocally one of the most enjoyable shows I've seen in a long time... but it is brutal and it does not hold back. I think that we're not wired to expect how little it holds back. Like, we have a level of bad things happening that... we can conceive of happening in a story, but this... defies all expectations at every step along the way. Now, my favorite line from episode 3 is actually one from Silco, where Vander is challenging what he's doing, saying it is for pride. When Silco snaps back "For respect!" I think that it is easy for people to be like "What's the difference?" I can, from my own experiences, tell you that respect is something that... is as important as air. It won't kill you as quickly as being deprived of air will, but the way that Silco describes drowning at the start... being systematically deprived of respect will do the exact same thing to you.

Powder... It makes me think of this thing in America where kids end up shooting loved ones. I don't blame a kid who doesn't fully get the weight of the gun or death itself but the parents for leaving the gun out and so accessible that children can get them. I don't even blame her for the warehouse since none of her active choices led them to go there (the most she contributed to them going to that warehouse was clumsiness with the gemstone in episode 1). The only real active choice she makes in the first act is going to the warehouse with the bomb to help which is just sad as it did all but intended. With how the shows framing demonstrates the focus on physical strength (the ability to cause harm) in the undercity with her. Episode 2 there's the whole alarm systems that she creates in both the Last drop and the arcade hideout. These contraption have her insignias and the clapping monkey so we know they're hers, but the show never focuses on them and how useful they where (especially the one in the last drop). The focus is instead on the fact that she isn't physically capable, not capable to fend off the enforcers on her own, or hold on to that pipe when hiding. The framing and characters all hype up the ability to do harm with the others fighting or with Powder's gun skills. The times the show suggests Powder herself as capable is when her inventions don't defend or warn but do harm. With the explosion in episode 3 her face of achievement and the music as eerie as it is has this undertone of accomplishment like at last "Powder's done damage" finally. Her perception of the world and of herself are so ingrained in the community and environment it makes it really interesting and helps in understanding her reasoning now, but also her mentality... later. The show is purposefully showing what is valued in the undercity and what isn't (its a large part of both her and Mylo's inferiority complex's that would end up feeding on each other) which ends up making Powder afraid because of the importance put on fighting in The Undercity and her current incapability's means that she's of no worth. So she has the need to prove herself, but like all children (she's in the range of 9 to 11 years old) she doesn't comprehend the consequences fully nor the truth that she's to young to be ready. She has runt of the litter problems with having the need to compare to her much older siblings. With Powder throwing the heist goods I was thinking about the fact that she like 9 to 11. She can't outrun him (she's cornered), she can't fight him she's young and weak, he could quite literally kill her or worse (SA). All she could do was distract him with the valuables and try and disappear (Like the John mulaney money clip joke). A lot of other reactors expected a kid to beat up a near adult and get upset when she doesn't and throws the load (they're to use to superhero kids in cartoons). They value the haul over the poor kid. I would be glad if my little sibling choose themselves over some junk. Quite literally the fight wouldn't have happened if Mylo shut up and Vi listened to Claggor and didn't resort to violence. Also turned out to be for the best as to not tie them to the heist. Sadly only Vi heard Vander say this so Powder still got flack for it while also being told to keep the stones by Vi despite Powder wanting to show Vander (which would have solved that part of the issue). After she realizes the what her bomb did she's disassociating hard from the accident as people do (she's most afraid of being left now that she's messed up again, as we've been shown she has attachment issues and self worth issues only supported by what Vi thinks of her). Later in the council archives (not the show) she's writing "all my FAULT" or stuff like that in her diary. It's concerning to me how many people thought it was JUSTIFIED and GOOD to slap Powder over something she did not intend to happen and is already going to weigh down on her (I've seen a lot of these recently and I worry for those peoples siblings and children with that abusive mentality). Using the whole she told her to "say away" thing as justification to villainize Powder and endorse hitting the kid that just accidentally killed her family. She thought she could help, she thought they were in danger and going to die, who would listen and sit still thinking all that? Especially as a kid (9 to 11 years old again) who doesn't understand how bad things can get, who thinks they know what they're doing (but like all kids doesn't know what they're doing). I understand Powder wanting to help and I understand Vi hit her in blind rage... Powder saying "she is not my sister anymore" is the same as Vi hitting her and calling her a Jinx. Its her acting out of fear and some anger and in the end it isn't really meant. Its said rashly out of emotion. At the end of the day, Vander and Silco were out there as grown men purposefully trying to kill each other over opposing opinions. Both when Vander tried to drown Silco years ago and now with Silco tried to kill Vander and his family.

Literally canNOT wait for you to watch the rest of it! This is one of my all time favorites, between the absolutely gorgeous animation, the character design, and the MUSIC OML. This soundtrack has been on my regular rotation since it came out. Will be waiting very impatiently for your next upload!! ---- Also.. the game itself doesn't have this much world building - its more direct combat. Pretty sure you only really get world and character information from the character pages and marketing material Riot puts out. I REALLY wish they'd make a game free roam in Piltover and the Undercity tho, that would be amazing!
