Also If you really think about it, Vi and Jinx didnt have any physical fights in season 1 so Jinx wasnt expecting her to even fight back the first encounter of season 2 until she broke the gun. She doesn’t need them now. Jinx deliberately created her hallucinations. She used every part of her pain to make herself strong. Even her name. “That buzzing behind your eyes?” We saw it in her all the way back in the first episode watching Vi’s fight with Deckard on the way back from Jayce’s apartment; it’s the source of that blinding, terrifying speed Jinx has in combat. She deliberately cultivated her own trauma response; now it’s been permanently augmented by Singed’s Shimmer treatment. The unhinged crazy persona is partially an act; she uses it to provoke people and gauge their reactions. Jinx is hyper-intelligent; as Singed observed, “loneliness is often the byproduct of a gifted mind.”

Thank you. I still think what we call schizophrenia doesn’t quite line up with what Jinx is. Viewers and characters in the show say “she’s crazy.” In my head, I always answer, “yes…and no.” Jinx clearly has more than her fair share of violent childhood trauma. She is very aware that everyone thinks she’s crazy, so she steers into it because she can use it. Doing so comes with a terrible cost, which she also seems keenly aware of. She didn’t just pretend to see and hear Milo and Claggor; she forced herself to do so, and to deliberately harness what it did to her. Note that the totems she kept of Vi, the bunny and the flare, were in a box under Milo’s feet. Silco wasn’t lying to Vi when he said to her “Jinx is more than I ever imagined.” Vi taught Powder “what makes you different makes you strong.” Vi meant “your unique intrinsic qualities are what make you strong,” but for Jinx there was a deeper truth: “That which transforms you makes you strong.” The lesson she learned from Silco was “To defeat a superior enemy, become what they fear.” I think what happened when Marcus saved Vi in episode 3 was this; he didn’t really have a plan when he took Vi away, he was simply horrified at what Silco had just done, and in that moment, genuinely didn’t want her to die; he is a father too, after all. Silco probably immediately wanted to know what happened to Vi; Marcus likely panicked. He was smart enough to know Silco wouldn’t believe him if he claimed that he’d killed Vi…So he told Silco that Vi killed herself; erased all records of her, and stuck her in Stillwater. He was, quite correctly, terrified of what Silco would do to him if he ever found out. This is the terrible brilliance and iron-willed resolve of what Jinx did. She took the crushing, horrifying guilt of her own bomb killing her family, and driving her sister to suicide (so she thought, because Silco hid nothing from her), combined that pain with VI’s and Silco’s lessons, took the name of VI’s last words to her, and became the Soul of Zaun. Just as Silco used his pain to become the Eye of Zaun. And now, Singed has resurrected Vander into Warwick: the Wrath of Zaun. The storytelling of Arcane is like nothing I’ve ever seen.

I feel like Jinx was a bit more stable in terms of her hallucinations so far. Probably the shimmer she had in her operation has changed her hallucinations a bit. But she's a lot more apathetic and depressed now because of Silco's death and all and has fully accepted her identity as 'Jinx' instead of believing she still has Powder in her.

Now that im thinking more on it this scene hurts even more because in the end of the first season jinx asked vi "are we still...sisters" and vi says "nothing will ever change that..." but now vi flat out says "im done pretending your my sister your not" the switch up is crazy and the fact that vi is wearing the same uniforms of the people who have been opressing and killing citizens of the under city including there parents now seeing how vi and her group were treating the under city citizens literally gassing them out its like the call back from the beginning of season 1 ep 1 where there were a bunch of enforcers burning and killing innocent people ill always be on jinxs side....vi chose her little enforcer crush over her sister regardless if she was "to far gone" vi had the ability to bring her back multiple times she could have done it in these eps but again she chose her crush.

I think the writers were really wishy-washy with Vi: they made Vi whoever they needed her to be in that moment. In my head I think her saying “im done pretending youre my sister” aswell as “im done feeling guilty for your mistakes” are both her projecting, she wants to believe these things but ateotd she will always choose Jinx, and she will always blame herself, which is partly why Jinx makes that sacrifice for her at the end of S2. It wouldve really helped the scene if we got a look inside Vis psyche , im not sure why were keeped out of it because ive always been conflicted on whos side im on when it comes to the sisters in S1. But in S2 its very much Jinx-leaning, like Jinx is the main focus and narrative we should be following which Im not a huge fan of because then the conflict is weakened. I think Vi took Jinx kidnapping cait and asking her to kill cait to “get powder back”, alongisde Jinx choosing Jinx at the end of s1 felt like the nail on the coffin for Vi in terms of powder. Without Powder she only had cait, without cait, she went to this destructive place of keeping herself in a prison-like state as a pitfighter, maybe to deny the reality of her situation (also alcoholism which is more proof of that escapism deal). I dont think she simply “chooses a little crush”. I think narratively speaking its easy to see why Vi wouldnt recognise her own sister.

Jinx doesn't deliberately convince them of anything. It's because they all do it while trying to convince THEMSELVES that Powder is dead, so it blindsides them whenever they see glimpses of her. The lie unravels, so do their conviction. If Vi or Ekko are serious about killing her, they need to accept the fact that it is indeed her sister and his old bestie they are trying to kill.

@@buenocarlo she was acting innocent when Caitlyn had her on gunpoint at the end of s1. You can tell it was an act because it was exaggerated. There was that little giggle before she put down the gun and she was whimpering, until it turned sinister and she attacked. It was very different from what happened with Ekko and Vi, both of whom she shares an emotional connection with. Both times they had her pinned, she was done and wishing for death. There was no act going on, even with Ekko when she pulled the pin on both of them. She had a resigned little smile, it wasn't sinister, she didn't attach the bomb to Ekko, she didn't try to get away.

Since Jinx was empowered with shimmer, they were fighting fairly evenly, and Caitlyn intervened in the fight. So Cait wouldn't have cut Jinx's finger off with her gun, and she would have continued the fight because Jinx wasn't distracted. She might even win.
