By the way, you are always allowed to cast spells in dragon form. Whether you get that talent or not.

Thank you! For being one person to nicely point that out. Most people are rude. You still can't cast any spells from any other type of Polymorph, Wild Shape, Beast Shape, or Elemental Shape, without having the Natural Shape Feat.

Mystic theurge look fun on paper, but not sure that really great to play. You can't reach level 20 with a party and taking two spell casting class delayes a lot your good spells. The thing is that a sorcerer/wizard can cast spells with the dragon form without the natural spell feat. By going to MT path, you delay the dragon form. If you want to be a dragon shifter, it's just better to stay a sorcerer and get the dragonking form early. If you want cast spells as a beast or elemental, just play a druid. Anoher alternative is a vivisectionist char. You can't cast as a beast (and don't have offensive spells), but you can have feral mutagen and full buff before transforming (and dragonkind 1 max in the end). Right now a dragon shifter sorcerer have a big gap (1-12). Beast forms don't allow you to cast and take some good spells slot. You only have the claws ability (and bite if you take 2 lvl of dragon disciple) but they are really limited in time. Miss some a spell that work like the feral mutagen or feats that can extend the claws duration. Better to go with Dragon D (4 level), Eldritch Knight (10 lvl) or Arcane Trickster(10lvl) than mystic theurge, they delay less the dragon form and add something that make your later dragonform better. DD add STR and AC bonus plus bite (and continue your bloodline bonus). If you choose EK, you get +1 BAB / level and in the end you can quick cast a spell when you critic. Arcane trickster path add sneak attack to both your dragon attacks and spell casting. Geniekind, angel form, frightfull form (and of course transformation if you don't care about spellcasting), they all stack together and with dragon form. Don't know if it will be fixed in 1.1 or later, but right now you can use magus spellcombat with sorcerer spell list (haven't tested with druid). Could be an alternative 1 level dip so you can both cast spells and do your 5-7 dragon attacks in the same turn.

Have you ever made a build of Thallosian specialist transmutation wizard/ vivisectionist build? I'm trying it out now. Buff yourself and then shapeshift. I see now that druid might be better than wizard for this. But I wanted to see how well transmutation wiz works.

Really wanted s build with 100% Focus on Shapeshifting and using Druid feywalker and monk as secondary to get some attacks that you can still do in Animal form and use a bear PET or the tiger. Using human or hafling? Any good? With off heal and Buff abilites. Can you do that in this game?

You can do it...but then youre not solely relying on shape shift damage if youre relying on your bear animal companion. I could make a mainly shape shift melee focused build, but people would say I need to use spells to buff up, which then wouldnt be mainly shape shift melee focused

Interesting build, I quite like it. The reason the wings-AC bonus doesn´t show up (I think) is that it´s not a flat bonus to AC but a conditional, in this case only against melee. Have a great day and fuck online haters.

I was hoping for a perspective on the Shifter class. I've got a new level 10 game coming up and can't be talked out of Shifter. I have built a vanilla shifter 10 that I'm could happy with vs adaptive shifter 10 that is not done and is completly broken currenly on my fav Pathfinder character sheet software with multiple trouble tickets put in for it that may not get resolved in time for the game even if it is a month away. So everybody seems to say if they're even willing to consider shifter that adaptive shifter is the way to go. However, nobody really goes into depth on it seems like, and not many people talk about shifter at all. Really really hoping to find some content on KZbin about it. If I could find some great info on adaptive shifter maybe I'd even be willing to take the time to do the character sheet by hand

Well, there is the save editor that you can download for free; you can edit the total experience you have and can work to test builds. Also allows editing of attributes and gold; for those times you want to roll 2d6+6.

FYI i wouldnt take mage armor on any mage, reason is that its ONLY good early on, in fact by chapter 2 you will come across bracers of armor 3-4 which doesnt stack with mage armor (unless poly removes your gear? i forget it may) making shield good but mage armor far less so. Also just tested and polymorph let's you cast in it just fine, so no need to dip druid outside wanting to. Interestingly elemental body doesn't allow you to cast spells while it's active, so natural spell MAY allow you to bypass the restriction on transformation though i'd bet that's unintended... Over all interesting =3 Edit: lemme rephrase that... seems polymorph/elemental body does lockout spellcasting but dragonkind does not dunno if that is a bug or intentional.

@@Missingafool Im currently working on a lvl1 trad monk, into 1 vivisectionist, into 4 knife fighter finessed in kukris, into 4 empyreal sorcerer into 10 arcane trickster. you kinda have to turn on xp for active only as the first 4 levels are painful and solo the easy early areas like thorn ford, nettle crossing, abandoned hut; but once you hit dex to damage it is epic. before that you can rock 36+ AC from level 2 so your buddies can kill whilst you tank.

As a new player it has been my self-decided goal to become a dragon in Kingmaker. This guide has made it that much easier, so thank you! However, I would like to ask a few clarifications if you won't mind. 1. During the statting up you decided to up your Perception a lot. Is this important to the built itself somehow, or could it be possible to instead stat with Persuasion in its place? 2. I didn't quite get why druid's Natural spell is so important to this built. I don't think I saw any transformation/shifting spells in use besides Dragonkin III and the greater Polymorph to target other. Unless I missed them, I don't understand why Natural spell is so useful. I thought Dragons could cast spells without it? 3: Is it possible to rush into Dragonkind III before leveling to 20?

Perception was for traps and hidden areas. Natural spell was so I could cast spells in any form, like polymorph or elemental form

One note about metamagic feats : You get to buy rods early game for literally all metamagic feats and it kind of make the entire meta magic feats to fall off since your running around with rods doing this for you. Saving you some feats.

FYI: i noticed some of the spells are redundant with the druid spell list (at least the one i found online), stoneskin,protection from energy and obsidian flow are on the druid spell list, not sure if this was done intentionally or not.

I am really interested in this build. However it does not seem to be good for the early parts of the game. What is the build you would recommend for someone who wants a decent (does not have to be overpowered) early game char and still be able to develop into a relatively powerful character in the later stages? Monk? Oh yes, and with the theurg you do not get the bonus feats from the bloodline, right?

No bonus feats from bloodline. If you want an all around beefy powerful build go with druid. They get an animal companion that is a tank. They can heal, buff and cast offensive spells

@@ArcaneAgent thanks for the advice. Druid definitely sounds great, especially with the companion. I also find the crusader intriguing. The ranger looks great in early game when choosing human as enemy but otherwise ranger seems weak in later game. In similar rpgs i had the most fun with dual weapon wielders. But right now i am not sure which is the best combination of classes for this.

Unforgiving really isn't doing it justice X-) PFKM is probably the worst game I have EVER played in terms of communicating its mechanics. And I took my first steps 20 years ago with Baldur's Gate :)

Also, I prefer builds that are at least plausible in terms of a person's actual life in a fictional world. Given what I take it to mean to be a druid, for example, this build right here is already stretching that principle of mine, and I probably won't play it myself, but it is still a whole lot better than the Paladin who became a monk who became a Dragon Disciple who was also a Sorcerer all along - fuck that dude XD

@@ArcaneAgent my merc dwarf thug. ends up being 1018 15 12 14 5 out of the box. 1st stat buff makes con go to 16 so he is less squeshy and has better poison saves the other 4 go to dex. I am playing with the idea of making him a duelist but I am not sure about that yet....

Holy Shit! I dig it brother. I love being Theurge. Best part of being one in NWN2 is picking the spells as you level in a way that you have a TON of different ways to cast a spell. I make milestones for myself, like having all ELEMENTAL types of damage as various spells for every caster level, minimal buffs needed to make me UBER, stuff like that. I miss NWN2's Favored Soul and Spirit Shaman classes as they get spontaneous castings like a sorc does. Quick question, as I want to test my own builds I have in my head: How do you force level a toon in this game? I want to try a few builds to see what FEATs I can get, what spells I should pick, etc. Anyway, thanks for posting this. Do you have any other builds you put on KZbin? I'd love to see what you can do with either a Magus or an Alchemist class.

Sick. You might do yourself a favor and write down your spell picks for the Cleric or Druid side of things, so you know what you can get away with by NOT picking a similar or identical spell on the Sorc or Wiz side of things. That's how I do it in Neverwinter Nights 2. Its easier for them as you can get all the way to level 30 in that game, so its easy to get access to all level 9 spells IF YOU WANT. I didn't want that, so I went Favored Soul or Spirit Shaman/Sorcerer/Mystic Theurge/Arcane Scholar for all the FREE metamagics at reduced spell level cost. I had so many ways to cast a spell it was ridiculous. Hard to level up at first if you didn't know what spells to pick, but since this game gives you a TON of friends to help fight almost immediately, it will be sure fun to see what a build like that can do end game. I had so many ways to NUKE a target it was ridiculous. I had acid/cold/fire/sonic (most times)/electric damage, Divine and negative energy damage, major buffs and debuffs; it was GREAT!

I just did some extensive tests. The only form you can cast spells in, without Natural Spell, is Dragon Form, and any Genie Kind. If you are polymorphed, beast shaped, elemental shaped, or wild shaped, you can't cast spells.

Play league of legends. That will break you into a mental case or teach you that flames against you (and caring about it) will kill your soul if you let it. Let it go. Breathe easy with confidence and don't let peeps get under your skin because realize what they say doesn't matter beans. With the best of intentions you are going to have people against you. I proposed a helpful suggestion for Fantasy Grounds about CnC saves and that ended poorly even though it was eventually implemented once I spelled it out for them why it was a need. (true I got frustrated at all the no's and we don't need this posts, but kept at it. I never cursed, but told the main dude badgering me that he was wrong and we got into it over being nice to people. So I might be more callous in the face of adversity than some, but I generally am mild. This guy was just used to people not telling him he was wrong, I think.) I say that as an example of even helping people, it sometimes goes badly.
