One of the impressions I get from the arcanist toolkit for tank is that in a way it seems to enable tanking on a greater variety of weapons. Having a class taunt means you don't specifically have to run a weapon with a built-in taunt or inner rage/beast. The block mitigation itself can be redundant depending on your setup on Sword and Broad or Frost Staff seeing you can get close to the block mitigation cap without it but can help other weapons close the gap even if it doesn't reach the same potential. The class seems to have plenty of skills that offer both a mixture of offensive and defensive options and a few CC options along. It might not be the ideal way to play endgame content but for beginner and midgame content it might be fun to play with outside of the conventional options.

great vid with some great info for tanks, every other arcanist vid iv seen only touches lightly on the tank skill line but focuses mostly on the dps skill line with just a casual mention to the odd skill or passive from the other 2 skill lines to help with solo/group play, one thing everyone seems to on is the lack of a good burst heal or burst dps skill so hopefully this may be addressed during pts like it should be, cheers for the vid its much appreciated especially from a different perspective than the vast majority of content providers

Ty for the post, I am glad someone finally posted a tank. If a healer can those group buffs I can see the dk/Necro or warden tank being safe but templar healers being completely phased out.

Just finished vid, great break down! 1st thought about portal skill... maybe useful but not nesicary in vCR GH prog for safety when she does a far jump. But, as you stated, hard to choose what skill to drop for a very random strat

Totally off topic but what os that helmet/style in the thumbnail!? Dope as hell. Great vid as always. Seems like necro will still be my main class but im loving the complexity of crux usage similar to corpse usage for necro skills. Will definetly have to give it a try

Sounds like your gonna want a DK and Arcanist Tank combo for every trial.

He clearly said, that necromancer still is the better tank for tanking dot DMG. So in difficulty trials you are going with Necro/DK, Necro/Arc

Where did you get the scaling information for your tooltips? And did you make those tooltips yourself to show the scaling?

I got the scaling information from UESP, the tooltips are from eso-hub but I edited them with "Inspect Element" to show the scaling

Hey man from our testing it seems that glyphic only buffs the caster's weapon damage, have you found the same thing?

No I haven't tested it, it's hard to fit it into ulti rotation so we just didn't use it in Sanity's Edge

Runic Embrace's Minor Lifesteal might not be totally useless, as it can save you a slot from using Blood Altar. Apocryphal Gate might be an easy way to generate Crux by going back and forth, however it might work better on a healer instead as the tank is being followed by the taunted enemies (unless the tank wants to flee a strong AoE by using Fleet-Footed Gate to run away from it). Vitalizing Glyphic can be quite the combo when used with Saxhleel Champion set, giving your group both the 200 Weapon and Speel Damage and Major Force buffs at the same time.

@@holyfirepriest6965 It will be the same. Either the fight is static or not, what buffs are needed in the group, what buffs are provided from other roles You cant say you run 2 sets universal in all trials and dungeons

Since armor cap is so much easier to reach on this class. Is nord or imperial better as a race for dungeon tanking.

Hey, Trial gear is a lot easier to get that it seems, even if you don't want to interact with people, its easy to find normal runs which are mainly a dps sink and some mechanics, by being a healer (just changing your gear and build) you can farm trial gear really easy since you will mostly do that, heals and buffs. But i can understand not wanting to do trials, luckly there's a ton of armors that can remplace any trial gear

Yes. Trash dies so fast and is controlled so well currently, there is literally no need for an aoe taunt

I'm really on fence with the Arcanist as a tank. On the one hand: they're ugly, and that matters to me (I don't care if it's silly), I really don't like their animations. On the other hand: it might be nice to explore them as a tank option, and see how they ultimately affect raid compositions. Ultimately, I suspect that, at least on console, they won't shake up the scene that much in their current state. In the same way that Olo is seldom preferred to spc, I imagine that Yolnahkriin will be more popular simply because it asks so little of the dps. I don't believe that chunky shields and survivability are enough on their own, either; sorc shield is ridiculous this patch but because it lacks group utility that isn't already covered, sorc is not a popular choice despite excellent survivability.
