You're going to need spell penetration early, lots of enemies have upwards of 25+ spell resistance. You also need to have a spell with an attack roll early on to actually get the sneak attack dice, relying on hitting arcane trickster 10 to actually apply those sneak attacks is really rough for the majority of the game. I'd recommend looking into spell specialization, weapon focus rays, that sort of thing. Then we've gotta consider mythic ranks and paths, which add a lot of depth to your character creation.

FYI the custom portraits work the same way they did in Kingmaker. Go to your C:\Users\'USER_ID\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Wrath Of The Righteous\Portraits folder and you can add folders with the artwork you want to use. There are some issues with portraits not showing up in the UI if your using some of the mods from Kingmaker that added hundreds. The half-dozen or so custom portraits I made are working fine though.

The only problem i see with this build is that you will basically always have the -4 to attack rolls because you lack precise shot and enemies on melee make it harder to use range attacks such as most spells you normally use with an arcane trickster

I'm playing an Arcanist in PnP, though we're converting to 2E, so he'll become just a fairly regular wizard. Arcanists are SO fun. Dimensional Slide, Potent Magic, Quick Study, and just for some flavor, Holy Water Jet.

Only thing I'd change here is lowering Charisma to 14 to get up to 12 Con, as 9 con REALLY hurts as as caster, even a multiclass one. Your already getting enough bonuses to your social skills from your feats that starting with 14 Cha won't lower your social acumen all that significantly, and the extra con will really, REALLY do you good. Other than that, great job!

You don't need 16 dex so buff the Con (hit points) and Wisdom (you do know perception runs off of this?) and live with 14 (-1 on skills, AC and reflex saves). Alertness is also a feat you (Criminally) overlooked. Gnomes get a buff to Illusion save DC's too which would also allow you to further save on stats.

I am in upper teens of a arcane trickster build with a bow-magus, and holy shit! If you get wand wielder, you can UMD any touch-spell with your bow attacks. Crazy brutal damage with maximized hellfire ray and sneak attack, LOL

Shaman is like a Druid/Witch combo. Druid is a nature-y divine caster while Witch is an alternative Wizard that get's 'hexes', which are magical abilities they can usually use at-will, but a lot of them can only be used on each single creature once per day. Shamen get a more druid-like spell list as well as medium armor, shields, and some decent weapons (and 3/4 BAB progression), and hexes, and then throws in this Spirits mechanic that is kinda like a cleric domain, giving them added spells known, added hex options, and some special abilities all its own. They're a pretty complex class, but definitely could be fun.

So like Rogue and all it's archetypes and next video Slayer and all it archetypes etc. Many archetypes are similar to Pathfinder Kingmaker but maybe they have some slight changes in some archetypes and also each class got 2 new archetypes if I'm not mistaken?

@@malkie2682 I did my thugneticist as a half orc better overall stat spread used my plus 2 in Dex, I believe my stats at lvl 7 are 14 str 18dex 15con 12int 12wis 14cha I currently have the belt of physical perfection to make it 16s, 20dex, 17con, amulet of mighty fists, no headgear yet and he solo wrecks stuff so far, it’s a badass fun build, went halforc because best console sketch is the half orc black cloak, and my tank is Valerie as a lvl1ftr lvl5 plasma kinetic knight and already had dreadful carnage it’s an awesome 1 2 punch when together also orc ferocity is awesome for synergy with a life drain build plus intimidating presence +2 intimidate

Should you have perhaps dumped Str instead of Wis? Wis is useful for perception, whereas you're getting nothing from Str? Saw that they had cavalier, are they adding mounts? I mean, cavalier is two things: mount focused and teamwork feat focused. Removing mounts takes away a ton of their class abilities from PnP. Hopefully they either have or eventually add Samurai, the alternate class for Cavaliers (sort of like an archetype, but not really). While they also have mounts, they don't focus on them nearly as much and rather than teamwork feats, they get Resolve for more tankiness and Weapon Expertise that treats them as fighters for the sake of qualifying for feats. If they did that, they could also add the Iaijutsu Master archetype for the Samurai, which removes the mount entirely, which lets them use Iaijutsu Strike that is similar to Sneak Attack, only it just needs to be the target of your challenge rather than any other set up and the archetype adds riders to it that act like Dazzling Display/Dreadful Carnage.

@@ArcaneAgent I wonder if they will do Hell's Rebels as an expansion. It is the sister to the Wrath of the Righteous PnP adventure path told from the other side (and is thus an evil campaign). Weird they only have Oreads, since there are Ifrits (fire), Sylphs (air), and Undines (water) missing. Glad they added witch, though I wonder how their hexes will translate into the video game medium. Slumber hex is super broken in PnP, as it allows Coup de Gras against enemies, pretty much at will (if they save, you can't use it again on that specific target again for the next 24 hours unless you have Accursed Hex, which allows a second shot at it). For reference, a coup de gras is an automatic hit and an automatic crit, plus the target needs to make a Fortitude save based on the damage they receive or just die. A party of two can take out a creature 3-5 levels higher in a single round.

Ok...sooo.....am I not understanding something? Because it seems to me the arcanist is simply the best spell caster in the game now. Why would you ever create a wizard or a sorc over an arcanist? I mean I get you technically have less spells memorized at a time than a wizard but you have MORE spells per spell level, so it's not even really a disadvantage, and you effectively get to disregard the lack of versatility of the sorc and gain the spontaneous casting for no real tradeoff.

If it is (as expected) same as tabletop, the arcanist prepared spells use the sorcerer table, but uses the wizard max spells per day (4+ bonus from stat) rather than sorc (6+ stat). Its a very strong class, but you only have max spell cast as a universalist wizard, with spell level progression coming at the sorcerer rate. The real strength is being able to swap the spells you can cast daily (or with an exploit in a round). You could say that if you are using the illusion spells to mimic all the other spells, being able to switch spells is less useful than the 2 extra spells of each level the sorcerer gets. Personally I prefer the Exploiter Wizard archetype, Base spells as universalist wizard, but you gain Arcanist pool and a few exploits

@@ArcaneAgent I'd love to see that too. When I wanted to try builds in Alpha, I would load up a late game save and use the NPC to hire mercenaries but they don't get the same starting stats as the main character so not quite as good.

It's not a bad way to plan builds, especially if you have a save from after Mythic Paths are unlocked because mecrs can get most of the mythic feats and you just have to remember that you have 2 less ability points. Stiil, I'm sure your method will be better if you can level up or respec a main character instead of a merc.

Thats what I want to see. If I'm wearing the best heavy armor with a class that is a tank, the guy wearing robes shouldn't be harder to damage than me.

Any class dip along with Paladin is fine as long as you are using heavy armour.

massive overkill on skill check bonuses makes you lose out on a bunch of combat focused feats for no reason other than not wanting to quick save and load when you stupidly fail a skill check - which you still might do even with all the feats due to bad rng.

It still is required if the enemy is engaged in melee combat. However I plan on using no touch spells for this build

I agree. Mythic path can be game changer. And if you want make use of spells/illusion you have to buff your DC and spell penetration.

A presentation quibble: As you state the next level you're taking you are reading the class level from the screen --- which is the level you already have. Annoying for someone trying to transcribe your build... whoever might find themselves in such a ridiculous predicament.

Don't really see the point of going Arcane Trickster for this kind of build. As for the whole shadow evocation line of spells, they're all a level lower than what you'd usually get. Sure, the versatility can be useful, but you're already a whole spell level behind as an arcane trickster basing it off an arcanist.

Why is magic in this game so garbage? I can't do anything in the game unless I have a fighter with me. The cantrips are so bad, along with ranged attacks. How is it that spells in the game has to be a cone or an aoe to be useful? I can't enjoy playing a caster without slashing some melee because everything I do is worthless. Explain the magic system or admit they show no real respect to casters.
