@Ajay Singh actually they were passed on to next generation verbally that's why they were written in doha Or rhyming form, easy to remember ,but during vedic period they were compiled (ved vyas and others did not wrote Vedas they compiled it in written form) (even as late as 90s dadima who cannot even read a letter taught children about old stories which she in turn learnt from her dadi maa in verbal form.)

One type in which Vedas are written and one that was used to speak .And devnagri scriptis was derived from Brahmi script (that is lost in India and is only used in Japan by Buddhists in Japan for religious ceremonies) and originally Sanskrit didn't had any script at all , local scripts were used to write Sanskrit.
