A team of expert archaeologists aims to explore inaccessible, hazardous archaeological sites in Britain. Follow their journey as they explore the Paris Mountain and Mona mine, uncovering evidence of 4,000-year-old Bronze Age mining activities. Along the way they find dangerously unstable tunnels, deteriorating timber support, and potential collapses posing risks during exploration. Wooden artifacts, preserved by acidic copper solutions, suggest ancient mining techniques and tools, are part of their astonishing findings.

Really interesting but I’m not sure I can finish. Even pictures like this can trigger my claustrophobia. As the wife of a caver I’m aware that mines are dangerous and very difficult to get someone out of in case of rockfall, or just collapse.

That certainly wasn't an easy climb in an out. I always wonder how these ancient people did that with hardly any lighting. Did they use bronze tools themselves?

It is called Parys Mountain btw . :) So why not open a parallel shaft from the surface down to Henry;s shaft to the Bronze age one that you want to explore?It isn't hard to do looking at the mines 3D map.

I think I can appreciate the lure an inhospitable and soon inaccessible, virgin site has on a scientist. Yet risking death to see how people once lived, hardly sounds like viable research approach. Given that we dug a tunnel to France, bronze age engineers already got down there and that this site is a not even 50yds underground, going in from the surface using modern tools might cost them a bit of drama but offer safer results. Seeing the team slither through cold muck and slime, almost completely offsets the mildly woke whiff accompanying the group selection. It was worth the watch, despite the inevitable outcome. But who signed off on the phrasing of that narration? Damn!

With so much more things to find about the Bronze Age and knowing what was there before, why go so far inside,facing danger, would you want to go there?
@margomoore4527

With all that mapping, can’t they find the buried bronze age entrance to the section where they found the rock and wood? If they re-excavated it, they’d have a safer more direct access to the bronze age section.

the legacy tv format is hard to watch. this whole episode could have lasted 30 minutes without the constant repeating of the same information over and over like a person can't remember what they saw before the commercials. they really think people are idiots and i learned nothing and there was 90% of the episode talking only about how hard it is to get down the mine and how dangerous and nothing about the bronze age miners

The title is a LIE. Bronze is not a mineable combination on elements, but man made and combined elements of tin and copper. Title to educate and develop interest and entusiasm for real history. When you start with a deception, hard to do.
