I really enjoyed revisiting this film after a long break. It's a shame the reception was poor as it's A great film when taken in isolation.

The movie wasn't a complete crap - storm, just full of enough inaccuracies to crush a pyramid. Pools of mercury are believed to be inside the tomb of the 1st emperor of CHINA, as an example.

This is one of those movies where most of the bad reviews are from people who were expecting it to be just like the beloved cult classic they grew up with. This movie shouldn't have been named Mummy. It's not like the Brendan Fraser movies at all. But it was a lot of fun. And sufficiently creepy without being all that scary.

Very True. Even the Mummy Video games were Awesome. The Scorpion Kings was one of the first The Rocks major films. We all love Rick O'Connell.

Sadly, no. They put too much effort into setting up the franchise universe and it released just after A&E and various celebrities started their public crusade against anyone remotely affiliated with Scientology (such as Tom Cruise).
