1 advantage over a crossbow you missed is that it's legally a regular bow, so in countries where crossbows are restricted or banned outright you can use it without those restrictions.

@@WyldWolfDragon the key distinction is that a fenris bow doesn't lock while a crossbow does. a fenris bow needs to be kept drawn by hand(even though the little finger grip makes it much easier)

It is also a cinch to replace the arrow rest and forward thumb rest with a user-engineered, mechanical catch and release assembly that will convert it to crossbow-like functionality where the FENRIS plus host bow will lock back on a full draw. So, if you absolutely have to retrofit a crossbow-like functionality, a half day with a file and some aluminum stock plus a few fasteners from your local hardware store can make it happen. Buried in all his KZbin videos, Joerg has a brief demo of how to make and install such a device.

Man, Joerg "ruined" this thing for me by being the first person I ever saw firing it. Or more precisely, ruined everyone else's videos on it lol. The man is so insanely strong that in his hands, this thing throws arrows like bullets and puts them through metal, but now every time I see someone else fire it, I can't help but notice the arrows slowly floating through the air like Ogris rockets in Warframe. xD Doesn't change the fact Joerg is the coolest dude there is and this is the coolest weapon there is and goddamn it I want one!

I turned the draw weight way down for this video because I had been shooting for a few hours at normal draw weights and THEN I started to film. Big mistake because I was already tired. So I had to crank it way down. It's not any harder to pull back than a normal bow & arrow. The Fenris doesn't add any resistance.
@puck48012 жыл бұрын
@@GoGunCo Hey, thanks for the explanation! First I wanna say: despite the lowered draw weight for this video, it was still an _awesome_ presentation, probably the best I've seen on it! And probably the one that pushes me over the fence to get one. I've wanted one for a long time and every time I see one, I want it that much more. I've got a Siege and absolutely love it; now I still want a Fenris and Greyback combo, and I wanna try my hand at a regular good ol' fashioned recurve, too; the three are so different, and all fun in their own ways.. Anyways, I also wanted to clarify I was joking about earlier, no worries; I'm a bit of an engineer - not by profession, just have the mentality and eye for how things work - and I could tell the Fenris shouldn't increase resistance the moment I saw the string clearance and those smooth roller rails. Again, awesome presentation! Just too much exposure to Joerg and his monster-tuned bows, lol; you showed an example of exactly what I was talking about at 9:51, of Joerg near-struggling to draw whatever that beast of a bow was, and then there was that time he made that double-bow monstrosity that I wouldn't be able to draw if I dangled off of it! I'm more just commenting on the fact that watching Joerg have to actually exert effort to draw any bow is beyond terrifying lmao. The thing I forgot is just that none of those were Greybacks; it's a much kinder, friendlier bow than those behemoths, and more importantly, one I should actually be able to use, and I want one. Oof, why do I always write walls! Don't mind me, just gushing about a thing I like again... xD

There are two types of Broadheads available for the Fenris arrows from Steambow directly - one is the Wolf Fang and the other is a Bodkin-type war bolt. But most 2-bladed broadheads should work as long as you can adjust them to be in a plane with the 2 vanes.

I’d say the door is open for more robotics, but more micro and in fusion with the FENRIS (bow magazine) product. For example: a hydraulic robotic mechanism to assist or even fully automate the draw. Just needs capital. What better way to raise capital than a business selling cool, non-firearms that still launch projectiles at velocities fast enough to be way cool and lots of fun.
@ChristopherKlepel2 жыл бұрын
As a longtime slingshot channel subscriber I found this very disappointing that you give no credit to JoergSprave for this and almost indicate that he is just someone who bought it by saying lots of users demonstrate while displaying one of his videos at 9:50 and then at the end giving him little more than that he is also a salesperson instead of the credit he deserves for designing the instant legless which this is a derivative of. ;,(

I talk to Jörg on the phone every 3 weeks or so. I have made a number of videos explaining that we are business partners. We both share the same GoGun brand. When we make KZbin videos, we are helping eachother's sales. Every time I sell one of these, Jörg gets his cut.
@nvg38102 жыл бұрын
Take it easy on him. The FENRIS product is the result of three entities: 1. The inventor (Joerg Spraeve), 2. The manufacturer (Steambow), 3. The distributor (GoGun / Matt). While Joerg is the genius behind the concept and working prototypes; Steambow invested a huge amount of engineering and CNC equipment to improve the design and materials of the bow, arrows, and accessories and to actually produce them; and someone (Matt @ GoGun) had to work out all the business issues of importation and distribution, and front the capital for sales inventory, so there’s a way for U.S. consumers to plunk down their money to acquire one. On the machined, aluminum alloy units, which are limited production, Joerg’s name and signature are laser engraved. The name FENRIS is a result of a contest that Joerg specifically organized and proctored to let Slingshot Channel subscribers submit entries with suggestions. The winner was awarded a unit of the product. Joerg is good to answer questions personally for the FENRIS product. However, on the matters of U.S. acquisition logistics, he will directly introduce you to Matt. They are clearly business partners. BTW: Joerg specifically elected to not pursue patent protection for his Instant Legolas design, citing that there are actually prior designs by civilizations thousands of years ago, such as in China, to create repeating bows for combat troops. He also seems to be philosophically endorsing “open architecture” which is more inviting to other inventors to use their creativities to enhance the design and create accessories. The specific production design of the FENRIS by Steambow appears to be under provisional patent and patent review, and the production name appears to be trademarked.

I'm sorry for jumping on you right away for missing a sentence it wasn't very mature of me

@@nvg3810 Thank you for your detailed and knowledgeable response. I'm very delighted to hear that Joerg’s name is laser engraved on it but I don't seem to have gotten my point across. I was not trying to call into question their friendship, I was just upset that marketing material wasn't giving credit and seem to imply Joerg's footage was random user generated footage as opposed to the designer's footage. My thought was that viewers not subscribed to these channels may see the video and not realize the connections.

respectfully, this is cool, like it really but this ain't what this channel was about or near it. I get you cant build a mech, most people watching won't be expecting that but at least make it robot related [if this makes sense]. You could do videos researching or reviewing other mechs around the world without necessarily visiting them, make a top ten video of mechs around the world, make a catch up video of what your old mechs are doing now or you could literally make a video about weird/ cool vehicles of the past. Like your channel was built on making fantasy reality, you could go into that arena. If you need examples, flying aircraft carriers [ the Akron class is a good example], space war [the Almaz space program as an example], laser weapons, mech suits similar to iron man. I know all of these people have made videos about but I bet your audience has not seen them because they are usually published by history channels and you can make it less nurdie and more fun you can squeeze all the different types of whatever topic you are talking about into 1 video and make it more of a general view. You can also make money out of this because you already have a decent amount of subs and can grow it and get sponsors. All am saying is you can make your own niche and it would make sense from a logical and financial view. I personally enjoy you as a personality [presenter] more then some of the content of the videos, use your =mind as the product rather than something you are holding or driving. See how that works out. love from the UK.

All great ideas! I know this channel was originally giant robots, but that stuff is so unprofitable I can't keep it up. Even just "giant robot news/reviews/indo" would probably not pay for production costs with ad rev. Need to be selling a product.

@@GoGunCo you can sell products and do more videos, instead of a sponsor you can use your own company as the sponsor, the more views you get the more eye balls you get on your products through your videos.
