FUN JAPAN FACTS: Angel of Mischief's Japanese name is Ghostrick Fallen Angel, though the "Fallen" was written with a kanji that also read as "Idiot". Before the official TCG release, she was translated by YGOrg and YGOPro as "Ghostrick *Dork* lord" as a pun on the Darklord archetype.

The Lore of Rank 10 yugioh (so far) Young Rata was once your average slavic yugioh player, whiling away his time trying to understand the myteries of life such as Konami 's localisation devision and awaiting the ever distant arrival of his beloved trains. But at some point boy of Europe discovered both his greatest companion and his mortal enemy. It was a seemingly unassuming card, a Lv 5 Vanilla with a seemingly useless 1200 attack. But it was in fact the soul container of the being simply known as 'The One' who had gambled away his shape eons ago Slowly Rata began his yugitubing career, slowly accumulating a following from those of us that desired dry humour in our childrens card game. Unknown to rata at the time but he had began to tap into the mysterious power known as 'review energy' causing The One to wake from his slumber Time marched on for the Lord of trains, with him making a plea to release the falsely imprisoned being of 1000 eyes before he utilised his powers to stare into the darkness of shitposting to create what many scholars debate as the "Legacy of the Worthless" From the Synchro killing Meklords to the Allies of Justice, Rata's power bloomed until finally the one with 1000 eyes was released from captivity. He even attempted to answer the oldest and most important question in yugioh. Sadly I fear even Rata was not able to decode the secrets of the Greedy Pot Konami, likely in fear of the bubling review energy originating from Montenegro, decided that Rata needed to be stopped, they conspired to create a waring shot to scare off Rata, perverting his namesake into a horrid rank 4 train. While Rata contemplated suicide at this revelation, placing a pistol against his head, he toughed it out with his infamous Noodle skills. After treversing the asinine Neo space and trekking through the jungles of Amazonian Thiccness, Rata was finally able to take his faithful ace, "The One" into battle though he was soon acosted by a foe who was toadily NOT awesome. Having siphoned off enough review energy, 'The One' was able to finally manifest and utilise one of his many Rods to inspire Rata in the final legacy of the Worthless. Though an altercation between "the one" and Konami led to the release of B.E.S support. Organising a tornament between the dregs of worthlessness, Rata decided to use his review energy based powers to construct the "Architype Archive". Though in a horrifying accident, Rata used two review energy based battery men Industrial for a pun that resulted in the destruction of an entire city and creating the Malformed species called "Superlight Vikings" Realising that he enjoyed tormenting the slav, "The One" split into two beings one who joined the crusade to build bilberry a house and threatened rata into making a Cyber dark archive but he disappeared when the true "One" returned After the Link train Fiasco 2017 and "The One" waging war on some wasps. This alowed "The One" to finally regain his true voice, changing his name to Shapesnatch in mockery of the one who he gambled his shape away to. Now with a much more gluttonous approach to his energy intake, Shape threataned Rata at Rod - point to make a Ice Barriers video while he relaxed watching the dub of GX in the next room He was then informed that his shape was up for sale but the buyer(probebly konami) would only take review energy as payment, he revealed to Rata his nature before vanishing. Rata used his review energy to open a portal between world's, unfortunately the only thing to step through it was Ojama Lime, who travels the omniverse to this day. It also created Malefic Rata but he accidently blew up his own field spell and died Shape pressured Rata into making an ancient gear video as Konami were beginning to get antsy about payment this caused a downturn in Rata's mental capabilities to what we see today, convinced he is a Kaiju and Shape is Scottish Will Shape ever recover his shape, will Ojama Lime ever find happiness? I think you're missing the real potential. If you fill up every single zone, including both Extra Monster Zones and both Field Spell Zones, then he can deal 2300 burn damage. TWENTY THREE HUNDRED. That's slightly more than Gustav Max! And all it takes is flooding both fields, and your opponent having six set spell and trap cards, including their Field Spell! And that's why any Ghostrick build planning to win has to run Set Rotation. No wonder they stuck that HOPT clause on him.

The aesthetic reasoning for Angel of Mischief's win condition is that it's an archetype themed around 'spookiness, without real scares' or perhaps just 'Halloween', and compiling the largest horde of spooky bois is the competitive element of Halloween. You don't win Halloween by actually scaring people, that's more something you just do out of tradition. You DEFINITELY don't win Halloween by starting a fight. You don't even really win Halloween by ensuring nobody gets past your spooks to take your stuff. You win Halloween by Halloweening more than everybody else you can find. You win Halloween when nobody can tell you have a house anymore beneath your giant pile of bats, demons and skeletons. Angel of Mischief's win condition completes the Halloween theme by making your endgame "be that smug rich girl who goes around everywhere showing off the 10,000 dollars of festive - but totally useless - crap she's stockpiled over her home."

Ghostricks could benefit from a Link-1, or even a Link-2, that enables swarming and bounces face-up opponent's monsters. A Link-2 would open up multiplie Xyz usage, and it wouldn't clog up your Main Monster Zones

6:30 actually jackfrost is the lord of winter in norse and anglosaxon folclore, he makes snow fall, paints the leaves brown and yellow and makes the windows frosty. More modern folclore depict him as a fairy or a sprite of mischief that pranks people, this last being most definitely the inspiration for the card. AND that he's the mascot of the shin megami tensei franchise, which is almost as popular as pokemon in japan, and what pokemon borrowed part of the "catch" mecanic from, and there he's exactly described as a fairy that plays tricks on people during winter which usually involve freezing them.

I know I’m late to the party here, but I just want to say I’m really glad you covered my favorite archetype. I played them in college, and the group of friends I hung out with didn’t play meta and basically just built what they wanted, so it was a perfect environment for the deck. A lot of my favorite duels were played with them. The best part about it was that in nearly every game I played using this archetype, we had to look up rulings, because none of us were sure of how things interacted with face-down cards. Absolutely amazing deck to play if you like to be a troll like that. Also, they just got some new support that continues that trend of rule shenanigans. I’m pretty sure Ghostrick Festival is the only Link monster in the entire game that can use face-downs as material. It’s amazing.

I use to have a pretty decent build with these guys by combining them and one of their field spells with an old level 4 monster called Grave Ohja (think I spelled that right). Basically the end result was m opponent couldnt attack at all without spell/trap removal, then would have to hit ohja first (not very strong, only 1600, but still) before going after the actual ghostrick cards. Grave ohja burns for 300 or so whenever a monster is flip summoned, so with the ghostricks, werewolf, dark room of nightmare, and enough backrow, the burn per turn was pretty decent for the time (glares at the trickstar hoes of today). Still pretty fun in a super casual play, but thats about it.
