Hypnosis! Archie Shepp’s lines are so sparkling clear and intentional, if that makes sense. Love the funky piano phrases supporting throughout, as if Ramsey Lewis & Herbie Hancock fused into one player. Hypnotic, oh yeah. Takes huevos to open an LP w/ a 26+ minute piece. Tbone solo has a beautiful wandering quality, piano solo nutty for a moment then back to the mantras. This tune is a trip. Magnificent ensemble connection. Archie Shepp so great.

La ilustración de la tapa está robada del cuadro de Antonio Berni "Manifestación", excepto que en la del disco están todos felices por ser americanos y el de Berni los rostros están así por ser víctimas de los americanos. En este disco Archie Shepp nos invita a comer a su baño mientras él está sentado en el inodooro. The illustration on the cover is stolen from Antonio Berni's painting "Manifestación", except that in the one on the album they are all happy because they are Americans and in Berni's the faces are like that because they are victims of the Americans. On this album Archie Shepp does invite him to the bathroom for a meal while he is sitting on the toilet.
